Why does The Great Bridge exist in lore?

1.20 I think, or a little bit later. But it was highly probable even before then because of the notes about the Eye.

Also the Olm did exist before 1.19, see Time Valley SD which is ancient, Déja Vu from 1.18 and I am pretty sure at least a few more things.

 

Geez, I’m getting pretty rusty on my Wynncraft history despite being here since 2014…

 

Just watched Olinus' stream, the boss looks great! Although I'm more excited for the fact that camera rotations during cutscenes are finally smooth.

yup. troms-style bridge right there. my disappointment is immeasurable, my day is ruined. once again a neat wynn mystery that has tantalizing hints at a greater story is resolved in the most boring way possible. a retcon, at that? ig there's still the hope at a greater purpose to the bridge, but it's a lot more mundane now.

i am the #1 CT hater for a reason, and this it's stuff like this. for shame. good job to them on the bridge itself, the implementation is great. but the vision was garbage.

You may not like it, but the truth is that most players care about gameplay more than lore. You have to admit that the boss fight is pretty cool.
Plus, even if this change wasn't made, I doubt that we'd get any meaningful additions to The Great Bridge lore any time soon, if at all.

I personally think the change is good, even if some of the personality/mystery of the bridge was lost in the process.

 

True, true. Plus, looks like I spoke in haste: The build is unchanged. Looks like the fool was me, in the end, for forgetting the current great bridge build. And the bossfight is very cool.

 

the boss fight add extra lore bit with if you read up some item like immolation
so yeah overall they just great deal to the bridge and make it less obnoxious to go through while also provide explanation to one of minor characters on what happen to them

I watched the bit with olinus at the great bridge but I don't see where you guys are getting some lore revelations form.
Regardless, he's not a reliable source for lore. Bro didn't even know the real life lore than scorpions and spiders aren't insects.

 

hmtn just thought that the Great Bridge was built by the Olm, but after seeing the Great Bridge in the video, the Great Bridge looked it like was built by Troms.

I always think of it being built by Troms cause they ahve to discover the jungle somehow

I like the idea that after bridge got corrupted, Troms would built a tunnel to connect with Ragni for trading resources especially food. I have headcanon the idea of Troms militaries currently focus on reclaiming the jungle and eventually take back the bridge

Well with that logic San Francisco couldn’t have built the Golden Gate Bridge in 1937.

 

That's one of the most fun parts about the Olm lore, I think, pretty unique that they are still around.

Witherhead's probably an Olm, for instance. If she's Bob's mother - which is probable, if not really directly implied by anything - then she's Olmic. Old Man Martyn has yellow skin instead of the grey of Olm or half-Olm, but considering his weirdness it's pretty likely he's of Olmic descent. We also see a dying Olm in a Time Valley discovery. And we fight common Olm as enemies in Site D.
