Does anyone know anything about The Mortal Mountain Dungeon besides the fact that it became TCC? Does anyone have screenshots from it?

 

I’m surprised by this, I always assumed that Fruma was basically a guaranteed update once the gate was added. Very interesting to know!

 

I'm sure there's been several unreleased secret discoveries which is a shame because I love secret discoveries

 

Yeah I noticed the Jungle doesn't have them yet, they may have been cancelled. Can you confirm that Deusphage?

the original relic armor/weapons were obtained through various little hidden shrines, caves or events across wynn. they were honestly really cool (and pretty strong). we have current day relic guardians dropping elemental relic items, but that's always seemed like a really lame and uninspired way to distribute those items, i wouldn't mind going back to them being a "discovery without being discovery" state again.

notable somewhat related to this, powders used to be obtained through shrines all across wynn & gavel in 2016, and while i think all of these have been replaced by something else in their locations by now they were also a cool feature that once again really rewarded exploration by useful items (instead of SMELLY lore). there was a introductory quest associated with them as well, situated where tempo town currently sits.

 

Oh yeah I've heard of the relic shrines before.

 

Oh and here's another topic I may as well bring up again. In the Gavel Update there was going to be at least one quest with this character named Ragnar in it. There are two NPC's who still mention him, on in Detlas, and another in Nemract. The trailer actually showed this quest. There are a few things to note. One, it had ingame cinematics, just like what we have today. Another thing to mention is that it actualy has Bak'al in it as well, the trailer shows Bak'al bashing straight into a barrier Ragnar made in Ragni, and he flings right off of it. And then sometime after Gavel came out I think, Salted said to remember that name and that it would be important in the future. We can assume this quest is long cancelled, in fact it's possible that the Dwarves and Doguns questline was meant to be added in this update as well but was delayed, but it seems like Ragnar's quest is actually cancelled. Maybe he will have something to do in the main story some day. Corpe actually has their own interpretation of Ragnar, labeling him as "The True Hero". It's possible that Ragnar was meant to be like that since that video Corpe posted was posted after they joined the music team. I don't think anyone from the CT is going to confirm this, but if they do we can say that Ragnar's quest is cancelled. But if they just say "we can't answer that" then it's safe to say that maybe, just maybe, there is still hope for Ragnar. But I'm not going to get my hopes up. Who knows, maybe Ragnar will see the light of day someday, but not for a long time.

I wonder if old builds like these are still saved somewhere, or if they are just gone, that would be a shame.

And do they actually cancel content? I mean, some things of course never get released, but they never say that they won't ever be released in the future. I think/hope that they just store this "canceled" content somewhere, so that there's still the possibility to release it if they change their minds about it.

 

Oh wow so I'm seeing these screen shots as I'm typing this response lol, Yeah I can tell The Mortal Mountain got turned into TCC, some parts are extremely similar. And yes they do actually cancel content, anything we saw in the Gavel trailer that wasn't ingame was probably cancelled, but we'd need a CT member to confirm that and even then they won't because they want to keep everything secret for some reason.

 

The images of mortal mountain in this thread are also broken (or at least currently for me, on mobile), but when i tried to quote reply to the message, the images worked in the quote preview.

Aight so I guess the Eldrich Outlook was actualy built before the SE was delayed, salted just posted it on discord. It seems like they didn't build much of it though as parts of the ingame EO are in it, so we can assume it wasn't finished before they changed building styles. OR they just made it for april fools today, I have no clue.

 

it was made for the april fools. originally EO didnt exist, and it was just a super big gate there.

also how is this at all related to cancelled or unreleased content. its an april fools post

 

I guess I thought so because I genuinely didn't think the build team would have time to do something like that for April fools because their all working on Fruma. Also if EO originally didn't exist then what was the original plan for the SE, and was the plan changed because of the leak? Or was EO planned and it yall just hadn't built it yet.

 

The OG plan for SE was minimal. There was no plan for biomes, no lutho, only 2 quests, no large caves, no dungeon, no the eye. It was going to be all the ruined city grey and black with olm buildings and at the end the portal. And you would have basically only journey beyond and further as the quests.

This is why the update got delayed, we felt this was not enough content to release and the area needed more work. Which is also why I as a CT was pretty pissed that people were calling us lazy or greedy or whatever for delaying the update as the reason it was delayed was so we could dedicate more time to make the area better. The guy who leaked the old SE area being like, "Oh I'm doing this cuz the CT wanted the update," was a lying dickhead. No one on CT wanted to release SE at that time cuz it would have been a terrible flop with no content.

So sense this is totally old news I can say deus is wrong on this, I was on the team at the time of old Fruma planning that got changed. Fruma was actually planned to be a province like gavel at first and start at like 60 and move up. But the issues that got brought up was that the player would be ping ponging between wynn, gavel, Corkus, SE, AND now Fruma. It's too much ping ponging between provinces and frankly there isn't a huge level gap of content between 60 and 100 that needs a whole province to fill. Especially with all the updates that have happened between Frumas old plans and now.

 

I swear that originally the gate was just a set piece
