I've been meaning to see how far one can go with a fully pacifist playthrough, by the statistics page kill count (meaning that, for example, if arrow bomb doesn't count as a kill on my statistics page, it's a totally pacifist option by the rules of the playthrough and I can use it as much a I want). I'm curious what, if any, methods of "pacifying" an enemy don't count towards player kill count. There are a few main ones I'm curious if anyone has tested, specifically thorns/reflection, pets, and poison. I'm assuming all count, but I'm curious if anyone is able to confirm or deny this. Basically, I wanna push the limits of "pacifism" in the most amusing way I can and see how far I can really get.

I think pets do count towards kills as they can proc mana steal and such >.> Defo Poison, maybe not reflection? It seems kinda stupid to just sit there and reflect and pray to dodge?

Thorns, reflection, pets, and poison all count as kills. Killing any green name entities will also count as a kill, like any quest items that require you to use your weapon to smash it for the item to drop, so it would be almost impossible to play this game without killing anything.

However, there is an item called Bonfire Cake that allows you to do very small fire damage without it counting as killing. But killing anything with this item will yield no drops or XP.

Gathering posts and Slaying posts also give some Combat XP, and slaying posts don't require you to kill anything, you just need the ingredients that you can sometimes get from loot chests or just from buying them, so maybe you can get some XP from those. Or just from sitting in grind parties.

So the run could be done, but would be prohibitively expensive... Annoying. Well, thanks for the info. The ultimate goal was to beat EO without any kills, but that might not be an option.

I mean instead you can just do a no SELF attacking run
Just get pets+chunky armor and just sit there
You'd need something with high bulk,hpr/life steal
You can take advantage of Counter as well since your TECHNICALY not attacking it >.>

I could, but it's a lot more entertaining to see how far I can go with 0 kills total. The goal is to beat EO with exactly 0 kills.

Thanks. I doubt it'll actually happen, but I intend to give it a few shots when I have more free time.
