Don't get me started on tectonics
Karst caves are actually a really good explanation for some of the weird gavel hydrology since the grootslangs have been digging holes in the depths of the continent for ages !
starting to believe the rymek people just drink all the water .-.

    : (

Would have been fun to follow the rivers across the entire place though

Sort of like Undertale's ice throwing where it flows through half the game before ending up at The Core for cooling

no, the pond wouldn't be the spring because there's waterfalls in almuj. water cannot go up without pumps. the spring would be under the bank because that's where a large body of water is that's at the highest point. the 3d map is better for this because you can see the y axis. upload_2024-1-31_14-36-48.png

mfer it's not a paradox, you just didn't check the 3d map. the twain waterfall makes perfect sense, the fucking nile river starts from a tiny little spring in a mountain and grows larger with tributaries. same happens with the twain waterfall river, and it's a pretty goddamn large waterfall in-game. it does make sense for that big ass waterfall to feed a lake and a sizeable river, and for that river to grow larger when 2 and eventually 3 tributaries feed into it.

I feel like the Wynn plains actually make hydrological sense, if you forget the basin of the lost sanctuary (inb4 "time travel")

hm, interesting points, and thank you for fact checking!

I think that that waterfall, given that it is also partially frozen over, and comes from three water sources in the ceiling (source i visited) is not big enough to feed twain lake, which is HUGE compared to a lot of water in wynn, and very deep, but i understand your point, thank you for clarifying with 3d
Ok, from now on i will use 3d

WAIT HEAR ME OUT!!! THE WATER COMES FROM UNDER THE BANK. THE ALMUJ BANKER, UNDER THE BANK, HAS NO TOILET. hmmmmmmm

this actually fits in quite well with the water damage lore. Each time water damage is dealt it drains water through a microportal to compensate the gain, and each time water damage is blocked, it sends water through a portal to compensate the loss

The water coming from Pigman's Ravine is even weirder, how does it get larger near the end?

Also where does all the water from 3 rather big waterfalls go in the Ravine village?

Minecraft water flows at the rate of 4m³/s for each source block (according to the Minecraft Fandom). There are 35 water blocks total flowing at all times. This would mean there is 140m³ of water entering the valley every second, that's 140 000L per second.
    A minecraft day is 20 minutes, so 168 000 000L/day.
The daily intake for a human is around 3L/day. I counted 29 NPCs in the village, I'll round it up to 30 to be sure, might-ve missed one.
We can also assume the water is used by all the plant life and farming. All this together counts for at most 2000L/day.
That's still 167 997 910L of water that either seeps into the ground or evaporates every day.

interestingly that water doesn't flow out of almuj - the river comes from a lake in the savannah
