Secret discoveries thread reminded me that I always had a bunch of question on the weird hydrolohy of wynncraft like :

where does the mesa water go ? Why isn't it flooding? (up left is another source not a cave in wich it could go)
    hydrology 1.png
How does gavel hydrology even work ?
    hydrology 3.png
Was almuj just built on top of some spring in the desert ?

Yeah boi, hydrology thread, inspired by yours truly? I am here for it any day.

Mesa might be a loop, an MC esker if you will (shoutout to those who get the reference)(i dont mean the obvious reference, i mean the OTHER reference), so its more of a tidal system, where water comes in one side down river when the tide comes in, and out the other when it goes out.

For almuj, that pond is almost CERTAINLY a spring, which makes sense on how it looks, lorewise, and building wise. Almuj is a rare wynncraft making sense moment. They found that big pond in the northwest of the picture, and built a town around it. Perhaps it originally went like this
    upload_2024-1-29_17-31-17.png
and they built channels to make it go around the city, which eventually dried up the original passage. They certainly had the technology based on what we know of the desert civilizations.

I have not explored gavel enough to know much, but there are two points i wish to make
    upload_2024-1-29_17-34-13.png
In the white circle i added near light forest, you can see that that one river actually does appear to flow down to the sea, it just goes under an overpass which you cant tell on the Overhead map. (There also appear to be several small springs in the mountains south of karoc quarry, but that does not explain how none of those rivers, like the one that bucie spans, go anywhere. Literally almost all of the huge water pools and creeks in the entire olux swamp flow into that river, in addition to another river from dark forest, but it just narrows to like 5 blocks and then COMPLETELY DISSAPEARS! There should be massive flooding near that entire mountain. Thirdly, one point you missed.

Basically the opposite of the twain lake paradox, wherein one small waterfall fuels a mighty river. In this location near the llevigar spider den and the fallen meteor, There is a relatively large mountain spring with a waterfall, which feeds into a small lake and that is it, it goes nowhere. It would overflow

on the 3d map you can see that that is actually a waterfall from the top of the mountain & not a tunnel

and the pool under the timelost sanctum is another basin with no rivers leading out

I guess you can handwave it away by saying that the entire world is built on karst topography, so springs can bubble up and form rivers, and then the river water is absorbed back down into the water table without a clear end point. Come to think of it this works especially well for the Sage River in northwest Gavel, since we already know there are obvious karst caves in that region (Fortress Catacombs and the Olux Reservoir cave). There's no salvaging the Almuj-Rymek river situation however I fear

Anyhow if there's no hope for rational hydrology in Fruma I hope there are at least another karst cave or two. This has been Karst Propaganda v\/v

Only way it would make any sense, especially Gavel, is if the world existed on a layer of groundwater with springs everywhere. However we know under there there's only void, we also know there is water perpetually flowing into the void from springs in the sky islands.
Only one explanation: Water is a scam created by the Seaskipper Captain to sell more boat passes.

You figured it out. But that means that in accordance of the elemental damage theory, if we do enough Water Damage his scam will be exposed!!! WE WILL WALK TO CORKUS FROM RAGNI, AND THE SEASKIPPER KRAKEN WILL CRUMBLE
