What version does Wynncraft run on internally?

Just out of curiosity, what version does the Wynncraft server run on internally?

 

it secretly runs on April fool's snapshot 23w13a_or_b but don't let anyone know I told you that

 

that explains a lot actually lol, maybe the class selection is just a vote

 

dont really know much about the technical details of minecraft servers but i imagine it'd have to be the latest one to allow players from that version to connect, no? they probably use a plugin to allow older versions to connect too

 

I mean, before the shift from min playable version 1.9 to 1.16.5 Wynncraft internally ran on 1.8

Probably the other way around, like the oldest version you can connect on and using forward compatibility plugins to allow players on newer versions to connect, because it would be a ton of work updating backend tools each update most likely. This also means that if Wynncraft backend is the oldest version you can connect on which is probably most likely, it would run using 1.16 tools.

 

It's still the same internally, just the minimum version to connect was increased, to allow for more later version shenanigans.
