Sooo CurseForge is Running Wynncraft ads?

A few months ago I saw curseforge using wynn in an add for their server browser. totally reasonable, showing off some of the servers that are on there is totally fine, especially if the ad is on their own client(saw it on their mod launcher)

fast forward to today, i saw this ad when browsing youtube

(had to go into the debug data to get a link to it)

this seems... odd to me. maybe im overthinking this but isn't it weird that curseforge is advertising wynncraft, a server they don't run and merely have listed in their server browser? The voiceover sounds ai generated with its inflection a lot of the time too, which was offputting.

don't get me wrong, I don't think its bad to have more publicity, but I wonder how legal this is from a copyright standpoint, since the video links directly to their site, which they get ad revenue from

just made me feel uncomfy idk

 

did wynncraft pay for this? if so then it's good because it just means more people will play the server. if not then it's scummy because curseforge would be using wynncraft's brand for its own profit.

 

It seemed like in that specific video they were just showing off the server, so I doubt it was directly for their own gain

Not totally sure but they say “unleash powerful skill combination” which is the kind of issue someone reading a script would notice
