SPOILER Strange path behind dern portal

So on the Wynntils map, I saw this weird path/cave thing behind the dern portal. I flew over and discovered it is completely inaccessible due to barriers. It seems to lead beneath a purple spike and to what looks like Olmic ruins. I know that Void Valley and the Path to Darkness used to have Olmic ruins, back when SE was still being developed, so is it possible that these strange ruins are just left over from when there were more? There are also two or three more of these ruins scattered across the Path to Darkness, all inaccessible.

I'm obsessed with Dern/Silent Expanse lore, and these secret areas are very, very interesting to me, and it is kinda sad that you can't explore them right now. Maybe when Dern comes out these areas will be tied to the story somehow.

Anyway, I just wanted to share this for anyone interested.

Also found ruins closer to the eo that you can see are actually quite large and have fires lit but its behind barriers :(

And I got into the landscape behind the portal but the higher areas are behind barriers agian

Yes, that is one of the other few scattered around the area. Man I really wish we could explore them, it is such skilled building…

 

I've seen the ones closer to EO and thought it might be some kind of secret, but I can confirm that there is no apparent way over. Hopefully they make them into something.

Yep, that comment is how I knew about the Olmic ruins that were there in the past.

But the builds are so interesting, and I really like the feel of the Path to Darkness so more content there would be amazing.

 

In the video, why is there a portal that might possibly be "portal Olm" where EO was supposed to be, also there is what looks to be unfinished Lutho in Void Valley

This is interesting, the old version feels much more “silent” in my opinion. The theme on Deus’s channel fits, though, so maybe these ruins were from that previous version of SE.

After deeper examination, it seems like the portal area of the current RTD is relatively unchanged from the version in the video. It would explain the Olmic ruins still being there.

Okay I think I just figured something out. This screenshot from the unused OST video from Deusphage:

Notice the Olmic build style and the floating purple rocks near the top. Looks very similar to the ruins by the path, right? So similar that I think it might be the same place. There are a few things that could prove this wrong. There are many ruins in the Silent Road (mines) that I have not explored, although none look as dern-ified as these. None have those purple swirls, either. The other thing is the screenshot I took of the ruins from far away had a visible candle. However, there is no candle in this screenshot from Deus’s video.

I still believe that these are the same places, however. Looking at the Wynndata map, there seem to be some stairs that you can make out on their interactive map. Although, that’s pretty much all the evidence I have besides them simply looking similar.

My best guess for this whole thing is that the Path to Darkness was left fairly unchanged from the older version, and the Olmic ruins ended up staying put. Still sad that we can’t explore them though lol.

 

These all look like olmic structures, so it is most likely build by the olm when they inhabited the expanse, but I think a worthy mention are the dernapians, humanoid creatures that live in dern. I wonder if they ever got across the portal

 

I doubt that they build these structures, as they all look Olmic, but if there was a special race in Dern it would be super awesome if they were Dernapiens. Maybe they built EO, after all it has a very similar style to TNA.

It's an old olm ruin build with a cave that got blocked off as it was never used. It's just decorative

I was talking about the Path to Darkness, past EO, not before it. The area with the floating crystals and dern portal seems pretty similar to the original version.

Damn, now that you mention it it'd be cool as hell to have that map and actually check it out, with how dark and low quality the video is, though I'm sure it'd be just as bannable as downloading the actual map for obvious reasons, lol
I love seeing how things grow and develop into the final product in things like gaming, and theorizing on unused things in games, it just interests me so much!
