I'm definitely in favour of some kind of hint, at this point it's been so long with So Many people lootrunning that it seems absurd that nobody would have even Glimpsed it by now

This is immediately screaming signs of City Statue cuz that's the only place that I know of that has gold in it (the staff/spear thing on the statue).

I have had this theory for a bit now, what if the gilded eyefolk is related to the Midas Touch boon? It would make sense with the theme of the enemy, wouldn't require any external items, would be a bit out of the box (as deus has said it's not from somewhere you'd expect), and would now also be in line with the latest hint. I haven't really bothered trying it because there's too much ground to cover and I don't like searching for something that's ultimately just a random spawn. If I had to guess using my theory, then you probably have to go to a specific challenge immediately after getting a Midas Touch boon

So I've been watching this thread for a while now and I'm not 100% sure how or why no one has found this mob yet but I have a theory regarding its possible location.

Wall of text incoming-- you've been warned.

    ---------------------------------------------

Assuming that we're meant to use its material its made of as a clue, it seems to have 3 main things it wears: the gold armor, the helmet, and the sword.

The helmet's texture/cosmetic name is called "jagged kabuto". A kabuto is a helmet that was worn by traditional Japanese samurai, and was usually adorned with things that varied from deer horns to mythical creature elements. It also just so happens that the jagged kabuto is a non-copyright alias for its reference, the "jagged crown", an item that is in Skyrim and was adorned with bones from ancient dragons.

The dagger it wields is the dynasty dagger skin, which further ties into the samurai reference with the kabuto, as does the golden armor. Clearly, these items were likely used by an ancient warrior or soldier at some point...except there's nothing like this around the Silent Expanse. At least, on the surface that is.

Let me draw attention to one of the most bizarre challenges in the game: the "Graveyard of the Thousand".

This is one of two SE challenges to have actual lore added to its location, meaning it has some importance to the CT to bother giving it a backstory. Basically, this area was an Olmic graveyard, with all of the bone monsters we fight being Olmic in their prior life, save for one monster: the bone monstrosity. The bone monstrosity apparently isn't Olmic, and it also has a striking resemblance to...well, a dragon.

Now, we don't know a ton about the Olm, but surely they would have had some form of armor or weaponry, and given the weapons/armor are kin to ancient Japanese culture, it could be that the Olm had similar armor and weapons that date back to earlier times. And, if they follow other ancient cultures, they likely buried some of their fallen soldiers with their armor and weapons to take with them into the afterlife. Basically, the Graveyard of the Thousand is a burial ground lost to time, all the way to the point where a giant Olmic skeleton lies within the walls.

Which brings me to my next piece of evidence: the way in.

    --------------------------------------------------

I find it strange how the entrance into a giant Olmic burial ground is via a void hole. What else is related to void holes? That's right, the Nameless Anomaly and the Archipelago.

As you may know, void holes were created by the Anomaly and it is also likely the origin of the original "Eyefolk", given we have a few types of them lurking in the TNA raid.

Remember when I said that the Graveyard of the Thousand was one of two locations to have a backstory? Well, the other is the "False Respite" challenge, featuring our greater one reject, the Exemplar. In this backstory, a bunch of entities were rejected and tossed into the void, becoming fanatic worshippers of the Exemplar and making it their false king. They even go as far as to sacrifice themselves to it, which is why the Exemplar looks as close as it does to the other mobs it spawns with.

What are these other mobs you ask? Other Eyefolk. In fact, the Exemplar is classified as an Eyefolk likely because it has taken on so many of its worshippers that it has become one of them. And given all of the mobs' relationship to TNA, Greater/Little Ones, and the Archipelago, it isn't too hard to believe that it might have some influence over void holes, or at least the ability to travel through one.

Basically, the void hole didn't place itself there to the Graveyard's entrance. Something else-- likely Eyefolk related-- had to have done it, whether it was the Anomaly or something else with that capability, such as the Exemplar.

This void hole entrance, the fact that the Gilded Eyefolk is an Eyefolk specifically in a location other Eyefolk aren't necessarily at, the fact that the Graveyard is a massive Olmic burial ground likely lost to time if it wasn't for this intervention-- I personally believe that the Gilded Eyefolk is located in the Graveyard.

A possible backstory for this whole thing would be that the Exemplar, being seen as a false king by its worshippers, had one follower seek out a crown for it. Using its power, it opened a gateway for the follower to enter, leading to the Graveyard, and there it managed to find the ancient armory and weaponry of the Olm who were put to rest there. Upon donning the armor and disrupting the grave, however, it angered the Olmic spirits and unleashed the fury and unrest that we see in the mobs upon fighting them. And it's possible that an ancient dragon-- one that the Gilded Eyefolk's newly acquired crown dons the teeth of-- has also come back from the dead as the bone monstrosity.

The correlations are there, and I do find it somewhat funny how close the Exemplar's lair and the void hole to the Graveyard are to each other, as if the Gilded Eyefolk deliberately went there to seek out further offerings to its false king. The Gilded Eyefolk also looks very similar to the Lost Eyefolk that are the followers of the Exemplar, so this theory continues to stay connected.

    ------------------------------------------------------

That's just my take on this whole thing-- I may have overthought it some but I'm simply trying to tie together the few clues we have to work with. And honestly, even if it did (or did not) spawn there, no one has confirmed seeing it, so I have honestly no idea if it's even a replacement spawn for anything, requires a certain boon or item to trigger, or what. With as many people doing lootruns daily, including myself, I feel like something would have had to align already for someone to witness this mob.

Personally I'd find it hilarious if it pulled a chiropterror and just turned the bone monstrosity into the gilded eyefolk, though that might be a bit too sudden and odd. Who really knows if the mob even exists at this point...?

Not sure about others but I avoid the Olm challenge like the goddamn plague
In any situation if I still have a choice to pick an alternative, then I absolutely will

Probably why it hasn't been found by anyone yet

Yeah, for me the challenge is doable but also super time consuming (and kind of mind numbing as well). If you're on red challenges and not gaining any time, then avoiding that challenge is ideal unless you have absolutely no other option.

Even so, I've done it multiple times and when you consider how many people are lootrunning daily, you have to wonder how no one has seen it yet. I find it extremely hard to believe that absolutely no one has seen this mob, regardless of where it spawns. I'm hoping that the mob at least has a decent amount of HP to not get destroyed in a few spells in god runs, plus maybe have a visual indicator or something to let the player know "hey, something different is here, take a look".

Of course, it could be bugged for some reason, but there's been 3 hotfixes now plus the festival of the bonfire update is coming up this Friday. With that many updates, I feel like the bug shouldn't be there anymore, yet I still have seen no reaction/confirmation that this mob spawned for anyone.

I guess time will tell. Hopefully someone finds it soon, and I really hope that it drops something rare or exclusive given how much of a pain it's been to find this mob.

I tend to do GotT fairly often as long as I don't have any walk speed or attack speed curses, which I avoid early curses as best as I can. I've had my suspicions it could be related to the mob in my personal for-fun research but to no avail.

Given the spawn odds aren't THAT low my best bets are either some incredibly specific trigger on top of the low spawn chance, or the entire thing being bugged.

Given we have no actual specifics at our fingertips we can only toy around with what vague information we do have.

The only thing I myself could think of was the yellow beacon being part of the puzzle, with yellow being effectively the same color as the Gilded Eyefolk and related to loot increases. It'd fit one of the hints about its material aswell as thematically fitting, but my own testing hasn't proved much use. I've gone as far as to double stack vibrant aqua into vibrant yellow on the statue defend challenge in response to the guesses but that didn't prove much of a result either.
