What do eta and etw mean?

Title. I see eta and etw on a lot of build threads.

wait but why would you want to have a multi element dmg build?

 

It's not the damages, that's the skill points they use and build around.

 

it is partially thr damage as well, the reason why having multiple elements is good is to get past elemental defenses of a certain element or because more skill points can boost those elements damage

 

Also note that for standardization elements are always put in the order they appear as skill points:
Earth Thunder Water Fire Air.
So ETW is usually (not always) spell damage, while ETA is usually fast melee - again with a focus on damage over tankiness, because thunder and air both have a tendency to give a small amount of hp in return for walkspeed.

 

In addition to all of this, note that there are other fun builds that use other skill point combinations
For example, I usually play WFA or ETWFA
(water fire air)(earth thunder water fire air)

 

1 element is just a waste of skill points since you have 200 and the cap for each element is 100.
With 2 element builds, for the same reason as before, you'll usually have extra skill points you don't need for gear reqs cuz other gear gives extra skill points, and it's almost always better to add a third element so you can use items with that skill point req and get the bonuses from that skill point

 

why do you think weapons with multiple elements exist
