how to deal with elemental defences as a boltslinger

I started using a boltslinger build recently, and it's very fun, but how am I supposed to deal with mobs that have defences agains all elements like qira, virus doctor and robob. I tried using stinger since it only deals neutral damage but elemental damage conversion turned it all into elemental damage. I had to just use bombs to beat virus doctor, but that's really slow, and it doesn't work against stronger enemies like qira

 

use weapons with slower attack speeds

 

Sorry forgot to mention but I'm using a spell build not a melee build so the amount of little arrows is always the same

 

yeah i know, sslow is less effected by eledefs

wynn 2.0 elemental defense applies to final damage (after spellmult and strength effects) so good luck lol

 

What I don't understand is why they don't just change eledefs (at least for mobs) to be a % of elemental damage. I don't see any drawbacks to doing that

 

you could always use sharpshooter

I used sharpshooter before but I like boltslinger more.
But I can't even beat li because robob always kill me now that I've switched to boltslinger

 

well, more like there isn't anything you can do about them

they can matter a lot (as OP experienced).

Hellstrand [f6f6f6] for healing and fire damage
Stinger [Unpowdered] for mobs with eledefs


Also after more trying I did manage to beat robob and qira, but I had to use a lot of pots, and the fights were really slow

 

So how does elemental defences comes into play when calculating damage? Like I would like the specific formula because I have no idea how it works now and need a visual guide to help

I wouldn't say don't matter as much as they do matter but there isn't much you can do about it
