"Proper" way to play assassin?

I'm leveling my assassin but it feels much worse (maybe because of my skill issue) than archer or shaman. It deals much lower damage (whether midgame or in an endgame build). I've heard that acrobat is good but it feels too tricky to "fly" around. How does assassin actually gain advantage?
(I'm playing trickster because I feel it's more skill issue friendly?)

 

acrobat flying is more to dash and lacerate combo continuesly till you ran out of mana and use jasmine bloom as an additional dmg source. Trickster is just tanky assassin with small touch of shadestepper aspect and shadestepper is just pre 2.0 assassin that spends time preparing with smoke bombs and shit for marks and stuff to deal ridiculous amount of dmg

Assassin soon will get a rework so no need to focus on it for now

well.... you dash up, hop, lacerate, then shift, then lacerate and multi hit at the target below you, if you dip below your target's head, try to dash back up, however your eventually going to have to hit the ground to recharge righting reflex. yeah rn acrobat doesnt do enough dmg

shadestepper i prefer heavy melee (although it has downsides like low mana) and basically you just throw a sticky bomb, wait 4 seconds and vanish, and hit them and run away. then you do it again (minus the smoke bomb, unless marks run out). if you have equake you can use that too. its helpful to have clones as shadestepper to tank a bit of damage as you leave vanish and run away, but preferably dont get echo

 

not a skill issue, assassin feels worse because it just is worse, sadly

Trickster is absolute garbage lemme just tell you.

Until you get echo the clones are basically useless.

Once you do get echo multihit is not an option, and if theres 1 clone alive rip your dps.

Oh and gl getting delirious gas + hoodwink to actually trigger without losing all your clones

I’m running a shadestepper rn and get the most damage by mashing left and right click in general direction of the enemy with hop to get closer sometimes. Tried smoke+backstab but it doesn’t work consistently against high hpr things :(
Also get jump height and hold down space bar if you don’t feel like getting multi hitted out of existence
