Now that Gavel is as polished as it ever will be (minus The Breaking Point and Clock Mystery), what province do you believe is better? I know Wynn may be getting a rework in the future (the jungle, for example), but I know that people used to prefer Wynn. I am curious to see whether this still holds.

Also, which do you believe has more interesting lore?

(Note the SE was supposed to not be part of wynn)

While Gavel is fun, and cool. Something about wynn is just nice. It's a bit more simple with more cookie-cutter places like "the snow place", the jungle place and "the desert". It's just kinda nice to have those simple themes.

Gavel. The exploration, the opportunities, the lore, the transition from corruption to magic is something unmatched. Every nook and cranny has a secret to be found or new pieces to the intense lore puzzle discovered. Everything seems purposeful and no answer is wrong. No set destination. It’s a beautiful masterpiece, and whilst the Wynn province has the simple OG feel to it, it doesn’t come close to the complexity and magic filled thrill of exploring Gavel.

Wynn has a lot more variety and is a lot more interesting to explore. Gavel, though better than it once was, feels very empty in comparison. There are still large areas with very little in them and it feels a lot more "mass produced" than Wynn.

I actually kinda like that in a way, since it feels more "real" or something. In the real world everything is also not focused on one theme or purpose.

Wynn hands down, not just from a nostalgia standpoint but because I feel like there are a lot more unpurposed structures and areas in Wynn and that makes it feel more like a rich world than Gavel.

At this point its hard to say Wynn because it has been so neglected for so long. Gavel has had two fucking polishings recently while the title province just kinda sits there as dated and low quailty as ever. This update even stripped Wynn of its lore importance by implying that the elves - from Gavel of course - caused the portal to open rather than the miners, which still pisses me off so much.

Gavel before Realm of Light aside from a few diamonds in the rough (Hollow Serenity, All Roads to Peace) is not good even with its many revamps, but Gavel after Realm of Light is phenomenal with most of not all the quests from that section being high quality and even well-written in some instances (except Dwarves and Doguns). However, Wynn feels a lot more consistent even though some parts, especially the Desert and Rymek, are hugely outdated. I personally don’t think it’s as bad and low quality as other people say it is.

So for me it’s a bit of a toss up as both have their ups and downs. However, if Wynn got a few more quest reworks or new quests on the same level of Hollow Serenity, Misadventure on the Sea, etc, it would blow Gavel out of the water for me.

I am finding it increasingly difficult to say Wynn as a region is good. SO much of the content is just aged, and not aged well (WynnEx, ToL, 90% of the desert/mesa)

Gavel has definitely taken a huge step up, especially in the 70s/80s regions- BIG fan of the 2.0 quests Ive done so far (I have not done aldorei II yet but I do not have high hopes)

One thing I like about Wynn is its less linear structure. Gavel is very much a corridor: once you're "done" with an area, you'll likely not revisit it, but in Wynn, you'll go back to the major cities a lot throughout your journey: to Detlas for its facilities, to Nemract for access to the Ocean, and to Nesaak and Ragni for access to the Jungle, for instance. Due to its openness and size, I'll often choose to go somewhere on foot or on horseback, even though teleporting would be faster. Gavel makes me feel a bit boxed in somehow. I imagine that's also because of the lack of a coastline.

Hmm. IMO probably wynn simply bc of nostalgia. Wynn has always had that RPG world feel to me. small hidden little caves with some towns to bounce between and a couple big areas. Its transitions are cleaner and more interesting than gavel. Gavel still being baller af. Gavel just seems like it was made to be "bigger and better" but alot of the areas have somewhat sharp cuttoffs. Light forest/decay forest. and the canyon system just starting after complete flat plains. Gavel is still awesome and overall they both make the game sick. but wynn is just more "real" to me.

I still don’t get why I’m one of the few that isn’t bothered by this. The old quest was so anti-climatic and said nothing despite talking a lot. There wasn’t even a secret despite its name; we just learned that Elves aren’t greedy and that was the first and only thing you’d ever hear about Elves. At least the elves have lore significance now and have more depth than just preaching that greed is bad.

I will say though that it’s valid to criticize that Part I and Part II have nothing to do with each other. I still don’t understand why that is, but it’s whatever.

Wynn's biomes are very simple and the reason why they're there (apart from Nesaak) is basically just the same explanation as to why a real world desert or swamp is where it is. It's pretty good at introductions to the world because all of the environments feels familiar to what the player already knows

Gavel, of course, has a lot more rich backstories to the biomes, and the environments are far more fantasy inclined. You literally got a constantly moving canyon overseen by a Goliath being revered as a God (which you will learn more about in 2.0.1) right next to a lake that was formed by two magical meteors crashing into the earth and a molten, perpetually erupting volcanic site sculpted by people so attuned to earth and fire that they moved whole mointains
