Wynncraft 2.0 Census Results #1

Thanks to everyone who did the form (and who answered honestly). Here are the results 1 day later.



Limits of the Census:
1. Still quite a limited pool of people counted.

2. Most of the people here came from the wynn discord and forums, which probably skews the census by a lot. For example, the players participating in the forums and discord are more dedicated to the community, which means that they most likely have higher leveled accounts. However, I can't think of any way to reach all corners of the community to get a truly accurate sample.

3. The questions could be improved and there could be more questions.

Conclusions from the Census:

1. A lot of people still have not played all the archetypes, which makes sense. There is probably a large lack of knowledge in general about the new archetypes. However, assuming that most of the people in the census are somewhat dedicated to the game, this development is noteworthy.

2. The least played class is assassin, which makes sense. Assassin's 2.0 boost was slight compared to other classes, and trickster is one of the worst archetypes.

3. The most played class is archer, which is reasonable. Archer is gonna be strong no matter what.

4. Most people play raids somewhat frequently.

5. There is a surprising amount of people who still play Wynn regardless of update drops. I was expecting more people to say that 2.0 boosted their playtime by a lot. However, this may be due to the types of people pooled, who are probably more dedicated community members.

6. People either have a good amount of mythics or none at all.

7. Warrers are rare.

8. Most people in the census are class builders or do it a little bit.


I will continue to post updates in case the form gets shifted significantly.

other than the fact that i am going to get carpal tunnel in a few months if i keep playing it

interesting to see paladin ranked so closely to fallen tho, even though i play paladin its boring as fuck and feels like it has nothing intersting especially when compared to fallen, which is very epik and cool but sort of gimmicky(low hp high reward)

how long would the census/survey be available?

 

I mean, what's funny about that is that sharpshooter has bad mana costs. Boltslinger has AWFUL mana costs. So I reckon most people playing boltslinger (which is like #1 archetype overall) are casting like sub 1 spell a second

 

I figured that Shaman and Mage had the most equal archetypes between them.

But seriously, I feel like arrow storm is slow enough on archer to allow for slower cast speeds right?

 

Yeah, it definitely feels like this update really hurt assassin. It went from the most fun class to "in the top five" in my opinion.

I think this is accurate tbh, as a 4 year assassin main though I can't say the class got an upgrade at all, the other classes for the most part have the same base kit, but the only good archetype has a pretty weird niche of staying in the air that I'm not a fan of and the one that's supposedly closest to 1.20 assassin is an insanely boring and underwhelming burst class that's clearly inferior to old assassin in just about every way, I don't find it fun or even good in the first place since DPS playstyles are so much more beneficial and trickster is just ??? why did assassin need a shitty tank archetype? I think assassin would've been more popular if shade kept 1.20's base kit and trickster was the burst class, but since we're past that I think trickster should become the new dps class that requires some set up.
The other classes kept their base kits or got a pretty clear upgrade since phantom ray is easy to aim and similar to arrow storm, but with a nighthawk sort of feel and once focus is charged it gets a massive dps boost, but arrow storm is still on the table for BS and Trapper if you wish, warrior has the best tree by far with so much synergy so I've switched to a warrior main until assassin gets a rework and acrobat just gets a buff.

Would you consider adding questions asking people what their favorite archetype hybrids are?

 

i personally play daily after a major update comes out, but then stop playing it after i reach level 103ish/ get tired of it,
so none of the playtime options are appropriate for me :/
(i also chose "no, i've been playing regardless of 2.0." on one hand, 2.0 brought me back to the game, on the other hand, my play sessions might be as short as if not shorter than they were previously. so i don't know how to answer that one question)
