    Hello there everyone.
I have seen quite a few posts on both here and the Discord complaining about the Assassin class in 2.0. I am myself level 72 in the class, and don't understand at all why the complaints are so numerous.
I have tried all three archetypes (albeit not to their full extent, due to my not being level 100), and I have tried all four other classes (84 in Shaman, 61 in Warrior, 59 in Mage, and 53 in Archer), and as such, have a reference point from which to judge Assassin.
While the damage on Acrobat and Trickster may be a little subpar, both of those archetypes have a redeeming quality which makes up for the lack of damage (mobility and tankiness, respectively). They're both highly superior relative to an archetype like Trapper (which may become very powerful at higher levels, although from my limited building experience it seems not to), which has no redeeming quality and is lacking in damage.
Perhaps the most absurd of complaints I've seen, however, is about Shadestepper.
First and foremost, people criticize its damage.
While it is true that prior to level 41, its damage isn't ideal for a glass-cannon class, judging classes based on the first forty levels of the game seems too narrow of a focus to be a valid complaint (although I'm sure similar arguments could be made as to why I am not qualified to judge Assassin).
Once the "Marked" ability is reached, however, its damage soars. I happen to be lucky in my possession of a Mythic (several, actually - this may cloud my judgement on the classes of Assassin and Warrior, due to me having very powerful mythics for those classes), and with my Archangel, I can deal hundreds of thousands of damage in a single hit (perhaps this is due simply to the Archangel itself, but I've tested out other builds, and they deal similar damage). At my level, this is an earth-shattering amount of damage which can destroy nearly any boss in a matter of moments.

Secondly, people criticize the "Backstab" gimmick.
This is a fair complaint - Wynncraft doesn't seem to be a game built around calculating which way a mob is facing in order to function (Bylvis and the agony of Tunnel Trouble comes to mind), and while consistently hitting a mob from behind can be annoying, I find myself in situations frequently where it is the case that I am able to do so.

There were plenty of smaller, one-off complaints (Satsujin, Death Magnet, Vanish nerf, and so on) which I'm not covering here, but suffice it to say that I believe that Assassin is a well-balanced class (certainly more well-balanced than in 1.20), and does not need a buff (perhaps Acrobat and Trickster could get small damage buffs, however that would be the extent to which I would agree with buffing it).

I think the reason people are hating on assassin is because now it takes a lot more skill to get high damage. Before 2.0 all you needed to do was spam spin attack.

That and vanish abuse. People are just salty salty salty that they can't vanish immediately and get a free 80% damage buff on every single attack with 0 consequences
