SPOILER The Suspicious Egg - First Known Hatching...(but how???)

I decided to make a full thread for this since this is now a reality.



Since the 2.0 beta, there has been this item you can obtain after completing the new "Royal Trials" quest, an item simply called "Suspicious Egg". The skyraiders say to just hold onto it and it will eventually hatch, and another skyraider NPC will hint at a similar idea regarding the egg as well.

However, other than just "holding onto it", there was nothing more really said, and even after 2.0 release there was nothing really discovered aside from a teaser a CT member sent showing the egg can actually crack.

This thread is being made to confirm that the suspicious egg can and will crack fully into something, and it's not just a fake thing meant to trick us all.

However, despite the egg being confirmed to exist as something other than...well, an egg, the method of hatching it is still very unclear. You're going to ask me, "What do you mean, YOU hatched the egg!", and while that is true, there are a lot of variables that are still very much unclear as to whether they actually matter in progressing the egg hatching.

For context, this is what I did to "hatch" the egg. On 2.0 release, I redid royal trials on my main warrior class. I found the NPC who gives the egg to you, and I placed the egg right next to the stupid purple box I keep in my inventory for whatever reason. The egg stayed there for whatever I did, whether that was doing quests, exploring the map, running TNA/forgery multiple times, doing professions, or whatever else I happened to be doing at the time.

On the 15th of September, I was going to go fish some oil to level jeweling and I suddenly get a message as if I clicked an NPC, but I was literally in some nasty toxic cave with no one around me. I realized that the message (which popped up randomly and did need shift to remove, like NPC dialogue) had to do with the egg, and it was ironic because literally two hours prior to this, someone actually started a competition for this...

I simply continued to do what I did before, despite there really not being much to it other than...well, playing the game. Eventually on the 19th of September, I was wandering around the Olmic ruins trying to figure out where these weird cryptic key locations were, and I got another message similar to the first...except this time, the egg had been replaced with something else. In other words, it fully hatched.

You see the issue here? There isn't really anything specific to go off of here, but I do have a few theories that I'd like the community to try and debunk or prove.

Theory 1: Time- Given the subtle hints given by both the egg giver and the diary entries from the other skyraider NPC, it seems time is a factor in regards to the egg hatching. However, it's unclear how long this actually is, if time actually is the trigger for it. It's likely that some players may have tried to leave a class afk all night with the egg in hand, but given I've literally seen nothing about the egg cracking other than my experience (and the CT teaser), it may not be as simple as that.

I do play the game a lot, but I also have a life to tend with- I tend to sleep for around 10 hours, and I have to go to work 3 days a week. Not only that, but I also had to attend many other events throughout the course of the last 1-2 weeks- including a pool party at my neighbors that took up a big chunk of my Saturday. So with that, I usually play the game for around 4-6 hours a day, but I know people play much more than I do, which takes me to my next theory...

Theory 2: Distance- The first thing I thought of when I saw the text on the egg was your good ol' Pokemon egg. In case you have no idea how a Pokemon egg works, you receive an egg from a daycare guy and walk around a ton with it in your party. Over time, the egg will change status, eventually showing cracks and finally fully hatching once a certain amount of steps is reached.

One thing to note is that I do afk a lot on this game, usually towards the end of the night. But both times the egg triggered, I happened to be doing something, whether it was fishing or searching randomly around a bunch of old ruins. Another consideration is the amount of distance I likely walked or even charged around trying to 100% all territory discoveries or just to traverse dungeons or TNA a bit faster. I definitely walked a lot...but, yet again, it's likely others doing similar actions (which I KNOW someone did) would experience what I did if this was true, yet I still have seen literally nothing, both in game and on forums, about the egg cracking.

So, assuming no one else has a cracked/hatched egg at this point doing similar actions, then the trigger has to be something else...maybe??

Theory 3: ...Professions?????
(or some sort of side activity that isn't tied to time or distance)

I will admit I am a bit of a prof tryhard and I spend a lot of time doing professions (just look at my signature). During the time I held the egg, I leveled up my profession skills multiple times and gathered a ton of materials...not all the time, but there was a good portion of time I did do this.

There are a lot of people turned off by professions, and as such do not do them. But what if somehow the reason behind why the egg hatched for me and not others is because I'm doing something others aren't without realizing it...?

It's a farfetched theory, for sure, and there are likely other activities besides professions that can fit into this theory, but either way if time and distance are ruled out as variables, then it HAS to be something else related to this...

So.

While the egg has been hatched, the mystery behind the egg hasn't fully been solved.

I know others should be able to hatch the egg if I could, because I've learned the hard way that I'm not special, and all those eggs have to be equal, at least in terms of their hatching method.

My advice to everyone: keep the egg with you at all times. Move around, afk, keep your minecraft client on overnight, and try to help me figure out how this egg really ticks.

I want everyone to be able to hatch the egg (I won't spoil the effect, but it's really cute), but even after my success I am still at a loss of words as to how it needs to be hatched.

Feel free to ask me any questions- I will try to answer them as truthfully as my memory allows.

The REAL mystery has only begun...

 

Regardless of how this mystery is solved, this is one of the coolest events in Wynncraft that I’ve seen in an extremely long time. Reminds me of when we were trying to all solve ???

Damn, honestly makes alot of sense the hatching method is so vague even those who hatch it cant be entirely sure how it happened. One other possibility I've thought about that seems to fit with what you do is the large variety of activities, rather than only running around doing quests or only doing prof, its possible doing alot of different varied activities could be the hatching method?

 

In addition to everything mentioned, there could be a random factor in place at the same time e.g - 2 players do the exact same thing but their eggs hatch at different times regardless.

I’m glad someone who plays the game a ton was the first to hatch it, well deserved and congrats!

 

The hatching method is actually to walk with the egg for roughly 60 hours total. I don't know the exact amount of time but it's somewhere around that


That may seem cruel, but the original amount of hours required was 333 which makes 60 seem not so bad in comparison

Slight issue, there isn’t 60 hours of content after doing Royal Trials.

 

Might be easier to just hold onto it while you do stuff in the mean time - it only takes 1 slot. Hold onto it while lootrunning or something.
