DISCLAIMER: IT IS VERY LIKELY THAT NONE OF THIS IS LORE ACCURATE
(also my writing is kinda bad also lari fics may be cringe)
This story starts where another ends, right after ROL 5.

<playername>... I apologize for leaving you like that. I felt like this was my only chance at defeating this plague - by attacking its core.

I have a slight idea of where I'm headed, but... If I'm able to handle him, then maybe I'm powerful enough for this.

I've never been one to say goodbyes, but thank you for everything. I know you'll find people just as strong as you are to rescue Orphion in my place.

I- I see the end of this... Tunnel. There's- Wait...

By the light what is that thing?! S-Stay away f-

    HHHRAGAGAGAAAARGIIIIIIIIIII!!!!!!!!!!!!
As Lari tries to communicate further with the player, a Dernian interrupts her. It screams; the horrific sound leaves Lari stunned, severing the connection to the player. With all the darkness surrounding her, and the Dernian screaming in her ear, Lari faints....

Lari wakes up, inside a cage. As she is regaining her senses, a strange shifting voice thunders through the area she's in.
???: "Good job, Bak'al. You have brought to me Orphion's pulse, the elf."
Lari looks out of her cage to see where the voice came from, and she sees a massive shadowy figure sitting on some sort of throne. It's hard to see, but it must be the Dern Beast. In front of the Dern Beast, stands Bak'al.
Dern Beast: "Bak'al. You have completed your mission. But, I would ask one more thing of you before you return to Wynn. Break her fragile, emotional soul. She will prove to be a powerful peon."
Bak'al: "It shall be done, my lord."
    Lari: "YOUR PEON? NEVER!"
Dern Beast:b"Ah. It would seem our guest has awakened. You may begin, Bak'al..."

The shadowy beast begins to dissapate, leaving behind the Dernish landscape, which Lari now takes a look at.
The land seems very dark, yet somehow flourishing. Large spiked trees form forests with black leaves. You can even see fruits hanging from the trees. Pools of green slime fill holes like lakes, brimming with some sort of aquatic life. Further ahead, an active volcano can be seen, but it doesn't seem to spew lava. Rather, a grey liquid erupts from it. Dernic creatures walk around everywhere, peacefully. There seems to be no sun, and the sky is a dark grey color, but somehow everything is still lit up.

As Lari watches this spectacle of a landscape, Bak'al walks up to her cage.
"Beautiful, isn't it? This landscape will stretch across all of wynn, one day."
"You.... You! I'll kill you! In the name of Orphion!"
Lari holds her arm out in front of her; a spark flickers in front of her hand, then quickly goes out.
Bak'al: "You and that petty dog have no power here, stupid elf. It'd be best if you gave up and became a peon already."
"Never! I will never help spread this awful Darkness! I WILL NEVER BETRAY ORPHION!"
"Awful darkness? This place is beautiful. Look at our vast fields, bountiful forests, and beautiful lakes. The creatures here live in harmony, unlike your greedy villagers or power-hungry humans."
"You are twisted, foul thing! I won't betray Orphion, e-ever!"

"What do you owe that old dog? He gave you powers that don't even work for a pacifist like you, and completely left you in the dark when you needed him. HE should be serving YOU!"

"B-but the light is the good side!"

"I see that dog has indoctrinated you well. Light is not bound to goodness, and dark is not bound to evil. The difference between the two sides is that Orphion only thinks of himself, while my master actually cares about their subordinates.
Now, you have two choices. You can stay and rot in this cage forever, or you can join us and defeat that oversized mutt, and end this endless war. I will leave you with some time to think."

Bak'al leaves, and Lari is once again alone. She begins to lose hope as she is surrounded by darkness.

Bak'al appears in a cave carved into a mountain. The Dern Beast sits before him.
"Master, the elf is implanted with the idea that Orphion is the enemy, and the darkness is getting to her."
"Beautiful. Give it some time, and she will be one of ours. She will be the perfect peon to take out Orphion."
"But- was I not to be the one to-"
"Silence, Bak'al. You failed to get to the Nexus, you had your chance. But there is of course another job for you to take care of."
"Of course, master- what is it?"
"That human.... <playername>. They must not interfere while the elf is busy taking down Orphion. You will be the one to fight them, as a distraction."
"<p-p-p-playername?> A-alright, my lord..... I shall attempt it."

Meanwhile, Lari is about to cry in her cage.
"Oh, Orphion! Please! Hear me! My light is fading, and I don't know what to do!
Please! Help! Lend me your strength, anything!
Please.....? Oh..... Why am I even trying! *sniff*"
    She starts to overthink things:
Maybe I was right earlier..... Orphion just wants to replace me anyway...... He doesn't even care about me....... All those years, and not even a word....... I really tried using those powers, but they didn't work on that parasite...... he chose me because I didn't kill, but the powers he gave me can't even accomplish things that way...... he never answers my prayers..... he only cares about himself..... Maybe this Dern Beast indeed does take care of their people...... I have not seen a single one fight in here...... meanwhile back in gavel the villagers are greedy as ever and Orphion doesn't do anything about it.....
Lari keeps crying for nights, getting caught up in these bad thoughts, until she finally snaps.
"Oh, Orphion. I truly do hate you. I hate you for choosing me, giving me hope that I could do something good for the world, only to have me fail over and over and over. I hate you for not caring at all for your subordinates. And most of all, I hate you for never responding to me. Every prayer? Nothing. D-dullahan? Nothing. You suddenly replace me? Not a word from you."
And with that, Lari was no longer a servant of Orphion. Her heart, once shining bright with light, was now filled with darkness.

Lari continues to sit broken in her cage, until Bak'al reappears.

TO BE CONTINUED (very much maybe because this is pretty bad)

If I'm being completely honest, this is almost exactly what I thought happened after Lari went to Dern.
