Is this a glitch or just something that happens sometimes?

I got bumped by a mob, so technically I guess I was slightly below max health. But then my bow was gone.

I am combat level 24 and was in the level 13 stable quest. I fell behind on quests while I had double shot (in a different post I shared my dislike for double) and catching back up with triple shot. I wasn't killed and ran back out along the same path I had come in in case it was a drop. It was not. I have thrown a bow clicking to fire before, but was able to pick it up.

Yeah, that happens, added in the newest update. New mob stat: “item theft chance.” Sorry.

    (This is a joke)

Regarding items, you can prevent accidently dropping them by doing /itemlock. Otherwise, keep an eye on your soul point count. If that drops too low then dying will result in losing most items in your inventory.

I see your "this is a joke". So was it a glitch. I learned about /itemlock which gave me some confidence back and I went back in, completed the quest and got my horse. But now I am afraid to use the horse except to travel between cities with a bank and only when I have a full count of souls (currently 11).

Full soul count. Pretty sure it wasn't a drop. It happened when a mob hit me and I immediately turned around and looked for it. I managed to run (not sprint) all the way back out the way I came in and that tunnel has very good visibility. Over 99% sure it wasn't a drop anyway. I was in the middle of a sprint, had already been holding W down a few seconds and still had a ways to go. I am old, but my hands aren't quite that shaky yet. But on the off chance that is it, I just changed the key binding to - (dash/minus). I should do some testing. If I bank everything and then go get killed (or /kill I guess, but it would be more fun to go mooshroom cow punching) I will get a level 1 bow and I can check the drop behavior. I am afraid to do that with anything of value.

You can see what you risk losing by hovering your mouse over the soul point item itself. It shows the % chance of losing an item thats in a given catagory. Until you're at very low soul points, a horse will never drop drop if you die, so it's pretty much always worth holding onto for travel. As for how you lost your items, I haven't seen any bug that would make players randomly lose items. You can quickly get new equipment from town merchents or identifying items you find.

I have an alternative bow that is almost on par and have hung on to others that are not a huge drop off. My concern is really more about whether this is a wrinkle in the game I didn't know about. At this point, my guess is that I am wrong about not dropping and that I somehow did hit the key to do so and someone zoomed by and picked it up. I want to believe that; otherwise I am going to be too timid.

And thanks for the tip on checking the loss percentages. You're right; it appears to be very safe to carry the horse around most of the time.

hey its the cool guy, i like your updates on your playthrough.

About the bow thing i really have no idea what could have happened, usually when an item disappears in my inventory i try clicking the empty spot to see if its actually still there, but seeing that from previous comments it didnt drop and you were on max soul points i really dont know what it could have been
