I recently bought a gathering xp set for about half a stack (~130k emeralds) and I heard people say that gathering is useless now. Should I liquidate my setup to get a mythic of some sort? (If I sell stuff I will have around 270k emeralds)
I am a level 102 mage if that helps.

The reason why people say that professions are useless is because now you can get a lot of materials from the new raid, effectively lowering the price of these materials in general
But if there's enough community outrage it's still possible that this will be changed, so it's still too early to tell if gathering is really useless or not.
In my opinion profesions are really boring though (not to mention time consuming), so if by selling your gathering xp set you can still make back the money you lost, I'd say go for it

It really comes down to how much time and patience you want to put into professions.

Profession grinding has become much easier over the years and with a decent GXP set you'll breeze through the first 10s of levels really quickly. Once you reach end game levels of professions, you'll be able to use the materials to craft things that you can sell on the market for a ton of le sometimes, such as consumables, LQ gear, and GXP gear to name a few. You can also sell the materials raw- there is likely someone else who will buy them (even lower level or tier materials) to either work on housing or level professions themselves. Finally, any items you sell from excessive crafting (for crafting xp) will add up over time- I have made a ton of le simply crafting junk items to level up my various crafting levels.

Assuming you commit to professions, and eventually get up to level 100+ in each one, you'll slowly but surely begin to gain income over time, as well as become a self-sustaining crafter that can craft their own LQ set without paying a fortune for one, which will give you the opening to get mythics through lootrunning way easier. And regarding TNA dropping the prices of dernic tier 3 materials, I saw someone from CT say on another thread that they might nerf the raid rewards so the materials are fully removed, which will make dernic materials valuable again.

Again, it's up to you and whether you are willing to put in the time and effort to grind professions. From my experience, I have nearly an entire bank page of le and none of that was from mythic selling, and I'd say a majority of it was from profession related sources. So you can either use that as a gateway to earning your own mythics, or if you don't want to put in the time, you can just finish up grinding to 106 and maybe try to mob grind/lootrun/run forgery chest (but again those need either mythics or crafted items to be effective, except maybe forgery chest since dungeons aren't too hard to run).

If you do plan on pursuing professions, I'd recommend checking out the Prof Tryhard discord server since that has a lot of beneficial info regarding the ins and outs of professions, as well as a place to buy/sell profession related items and a place to request gathering/crafting help.

it really depends on what the market demand is.
you get about: 1 stack of t1, 8 t2 and 1 t3 every 5-6 minutes of gathering dernic with dubble speed bombs active.
t1 sell for 0.5-1 eb each
    t2 prices are weird
t3 sold for 1-2 le each when tna didn't give them and ruined the its demand/market price

Basically this, though a CT manager said that the tier 3 dernic from TNA will likely be removed next patch (or whenever they nerf it) so eventually tier 3 dernic will go back up in price once supply evens out with demand. Until then, you can use the tier 3 dernics you get to craft things for yourself or to sell, and save the rest for when the prices rebalance.

As stated before, leveling crafting will create a ton of junk items which can either be sold directly to the blacksmith for emeralds or turned into plentiful amounts of scrap and sold via TM as another method of making money. If you choose to only do gathering and not crafting, there will be many people mass leveling crafting professions who will more than likely be glad to buy every material you gather, sometimes at really good prices depending on how badly they want it. There may also be people wanting to buy lower level materials too, though the demand for those is iffy so you can choose what you want to do regarding those.

Ok so I ended up selling my gear and my old build and now I have 419k emeralds (some of the gxp gear hasn't sold yet tho)
Any tips on how to spend it? I'm thinking of buying a mythic

So should I just try to farm money until I get enough to buy a decent one?

If you want a decent mythic, you'll likely have to save up a few stacks (5-10 is a decent range for most mythics). It also depends on which one you really desire- try looking at the different mythics for the class you want it for and then it will be easier to determine a price range for you to save up for.

The meta is also really out of whack right now due to 2.0, so it's kind of hard to judge which mythics are superior to others right now. Maybe wait a bit for people to understand the 2.0 changes better, then base your decision on that.

In the meantime, I would say to try and farm more money if you can. Beating TNA gives you 3 le in raw emeralds plus a bunch of other stuff such as tier 3 amplifiers that could be sold on TM for a bit, but it's also a hard raid to beat and without a decent build/team you'll likely struggle to beat it. There's also forgery chest which is easier and gives you a chance to get mythic but yields far less in terms of rewards per successful run.

Really the only "easy" way to get money is through mythics- otherwise you have to work a little to get even a bit of le.
