Note: I know I've been making a lot of theories lately, and I apologise if it's getting annoying. This should be my last one for a while, unless Breaking Point comes out and introduces some colossal (pun intended) lore implications that have to be discussed.

In 2.0, we were introduced a pretty major (and somewhat controversial) lore change. Drale, and possibly others were actually not bovemists, they were actually aliens known as Wocs (name is probably subject to change). They come from an unknown other planet (which I will insist is called Splormf) and were apparently exiled for some reason, likely by other members of their species.

Here's a list of every example of a woc (or possible woc) seen ingame as of making this thread
    Drale (Tunnel trouble, cowfusion)
    Drale's helpers (Cowfusion)
    Albert the Strong (Stable Story)
    Etus the Blind (Stable Story)
    Rebel Cow (Stable Story)
    Cow King (outside Cinfras)
Enraged corrupted cow (rare mob in the Detlas Suburbs)
    Durum Protector (Bovine barn)
Salted? (various artworks around the map as well as decorations in Bovemist churches)

Please note that this theory is a half-joke and is very silly, just like the wocs themself. It's probably not true, but it's fun to think about.

Isn't it strange that there's so much cow imagery in this game? We see bovemists AND wocs. What's up with this? Well... what if they're related?

It's no secret that the idea for wocs is inspired by all that "cow abducted by ufo" imagery where, in this world, the cows actually are the aliens, so what if we played into more alien tropes? For example, the idea that Earth was once visited by ancient aliens who built society for us and then left. Yeah, that's right, Wynncraft lore brought to you by the history channel at 3 AM. I think you see where I'm going.

Since the Wocs were exiled from their planet, who's to say they haven't visited in the distant past? There are strange, unexplained buildings like the Great Bridge which would take massive amounts of effort for a human or any other human-like creature to build, so what if alien technology was used instead? Consider this: The Troms Tunnel was built as a fast route between Troms and Ragni, but the tunnel is very small despite the caves it digs through being safe. Meanwhile, the Great Bridge is built in what appears to be an ACTIVE VOLCANO yet is gigantic compared to the troms tunnel. You also have to consider the ancient Almuj Desert, the one that ties in most with the ancient aliens trope. How were the Almuj people so powerful? Sure, their king was immortal due to a strange scepter, but where is that scepter from? What makes it special? How were so many massive sandstone structures built? What if this was all provided by the Wocs?

The wocs creating society would make sense as the origin for Bovemism. The more early humans met these almost god-like cow people and worshipped them.

I have a bonus theory that serves as another possibility for the origin of Bovemism. I don't know which of these 2 is more wacky.

In the secret discovery Gylia's Cataclysm, we see the purple and blue meteors crash into lake gylia and destroy everything. It's known that these meteors are being sent by someone, somewhere. At the end of the discovery, it has this to say:
    upload_2022-7-25_12-32-14.png
The desperate worshipped them. Now, this is interesting, because (as far as i'm aware) we see no evidence in current Gavel that the meteors are, or ever were, worshipped by anyone. The closest we get to it is the Gerts, who may have been the people who worshipped them, though I believe the Gerts originated from researchers and not cults. Since we know that cosmic magic can seriously mess with people's heads (eg Gerts, Yahya brothers, possibly fruma), maybe the worshippers saw a vision of the person who sent the meteors, the leader of the Wocs (salted? moo'in?) and started their new religion, Bovemism.

The big issue with this theory is that I think Bovemism actually originated in Wynn. I could be wrong though, as the Maltic settlers have a framed picture of Salted in the secret discovery Historical Maltic.

These theories are ludicrous, but it fits the nature of Bovemist and the Wocs perfectly. If you have any more suggestions for the origins of bovemism, tell me.

Bovemism is a relligion created by lunatics forced to worship a powerful 'creator', god-like creature - false god, to get control over villagers of Gavel and Wynn.
