I definitely encourage people to try to start building for 2.0; the wynnbuilder dev sit (hppeng-wynn) is quite functional for Warrior/Archer/Mage at this point and will pick up Assassin quite quickly.

Can someone please explain why this Ambivalance nerf is a good thing?

I have not seen a single build that uses this item effectively and it seems like this is just nerfing an item that's already trash (outside of, like, shaman healer, I guess)

ambi was nerfed because of passive dps shit like guardian angels (and summoner most likely idk it isn't out yet)

dw tho it's still probably the best necklace for those types of builds

 

Yep, this a good summary—passive dps (and other ways to dodge spellcost like Parry) make ambi fundamentally different from a balance perspective; this version is still best-in-slot for passive dps builds

 

Couldn't the spell formula for passive dps or whatever be changed instead?

 

The spell formula for passive dps is the same spell formula used across the whole game, so no, but even beyond that it makes more sense to change one item than a game mechanic practically speaking

 

Still unfortunate that this fun item has to suffer and become a poor looking choice. A lot of interesting and creative builds are going to be worse now, or not going to be able to happen at all. Like a lot of heavy spell builds and Panic Zealot builds.

You're right hspell does not use ambivalence this is terrible.

 

"seems like" - the problem is that you're then slapping on dtide and slayer and stuff to counteract the ambi in a heavy spell build when it would just be easier to not use ambi in the first place

there are other viable builds with ambi, however
like fanta+ambi

 

That makes sense. I don't make heavy spell so I don't really know.
