Media Naked HIC Died to PonR Bug (But is Still Completed*)

After over 300 hours, I have finally become the first player to complete an entire naked HIC playthrough.

But wait, what's that death?



This death comes from Point of No Return, a quest known to have buggy fall damage. I saved this quest for last because I knew there is a chance I would die to a bug like this.

To anyone that can do anything about this, I would love this class to be revived because seeing it die like this as the final last thing is so... gut-punching. So much work was put into this class, not just from me, but from many many other people who have helped me get to this point.

Unfortunately, Wynn support sent the following message almost 2 months later:



This is the true end of the journey. I really do not want to spend another 300 hours trying to get another class up to this point.

Time to write out my story?

I came back to Wynn 6 months ago solely to start an HIC Coop. As in 4 people play HIC at the same time but can trade with each other. So we all made an HC class without ironman just to trade. We were not allowed to trade with anyone outside of ourselves, use trade market, nor use bank except for 1 person to use 1 bank page solely for storage since we could not use the upgraded ironman pouch. We even went out of our way to avoid picking up other people's buffs and drops.

It was fun until one of us died to a bug with the elevator thing in Rymek. We just gave up afterwards.

How does this relate to this naked HIC playthrough? I thought of it here: https://forums.wynncraft.com/threads/making-wynn-more-difficult.297810/page-3 (last reply at the bottom). After a little bit of theorycrafting with others, we figured it was possible with a very slim chance of completion.

So I set out for it.

First attempt: Died in first hour.

Third attempt: Died in first 10 minutes lol.

Fourth attempt: I beat my second attempt! But died to Tiontaith Hunter.

The most dangerous part of the playthrough is nothing you have seen posted so far. It is actually around Lv 60-74. Why? You are stuck with 300 HP, literally all your HP from leveling up (+5 HP every level). Your accessories are Savannah Stone spam, giving you +48 def sp. And lastly, your bow, which is Undead Heart spam, giving you just 150 HP. Unless you play as warrior/assassin, then you have access to Router's Shield, giving your weapon 400+ HP with 30+ def sp.

Everything at that level range will 1-2 shot you. I literally needed an escort EVERYWHERE.

Until Organic Explosives at Lv 75.

After using a very custom LR file by @Sir7alot, I was able to obtain my first HP accessory, literally doubling my HP instantly.

Then it steamrolled from there.

I obtained all the Organic Explosives accessories. Did harder dungeons and took bigger risks. Upgraded these accessories with even more HP at Lv 89 with a slightly different recipe. Did NOG. FF 12 times (ewwww). And grinded.

A lot.

Professions? I joined ESI and NFR to level up my gatherings faster by abusing prof territory boosts. I've spent probably 100 hours just grinding these professions.

Combat? Did quests but also abused combat territory boosts in NFR on Skyraiders.

I needed to get to Dernic gatherings to make Vim Veins accessories, which would almost triple my EHP.

After a whole month of non-stop playing on weekends. I finally got to Dernic gatherings and rejoined PROF.

And I grinded hard.

Thanks to everyone who helped spawned Face of Fears, that giant slime in Toxic Caves, Ruhks, etc, I finally crafted my Vim Veins accessories and made it to EO and proceeded to soloed it.

Then it was just grinding consumables for the other 3 major combat challenges and completing quests.

Naked HIC TCC. Naked HIC LI Solo. And finally Naked HIC NOL. All in a span of 3 days.

Bonus.

I've had 3 dreams IRL about this playthrough. 1 was PTSD on dying to that dumb Aldorei Valley guard. The other was about EO. The last one I forgot what it was about but it was much tamer than the other 2.

I can finally put my stress away. I tryharded this playthrough too much. Every minute of my playing, I have to be on high alert in case some random mob or bug comes up. I spent way too many weekends no-lifing this.

I need to not just touch grass, but EAT it.

The funny thing is though, I somehow still managed to do a lot of things IRL during this playthrough, and I even got my own personal, decades long goal achieved that I can be proud of for my future.

Earned about 5.75 stacks from petting items I didn't need.

Paid 6 stx 1 le to people helping me.

Used almost 5 stacks of Deltas scrolls...

So many times have these archer HIC and HICHs been doomed because of escape spell needing to be done on the ground. Really glad they are changing this in 2.0 so this can't happen again.

You definately did it, I don't know if you'll get it back but well done on completing such a stupid but epic challenge :D

this def deserves a revive, 1.19 has been out for years and has done this to multiple people at this point. if you like wynn enough to do the challenge modes, you shouldnt have your progress and effort invalidated because no one can be bothered to fix this quest.

this 100% deserves a revive. the amount of effort put into this playthrough mainly by crokee, but also from others is absolutely absurd. as someone who has completed HIC I can easily say its the most stressful thing ive ever done in a game, I can't even begin to imagine how it feels when you add on not being able to wear any armor. death to a bug like this after 300+ hours of work is extraordinarily unfair. revive this class.

all that being said, while it does suck that it died in the end, I think any sane person would consider this a completion. massive congrats on doing it, and enjoy your well deserved break :)
