I am a level 20 Assassin and I only have leather armor. 1 Legendary, 1 Unique, 1 Rare, 1 Set.

I heard crafting things is good but idk How or What to start with.

Use whatever good legendary pieces you can find until you can start using adventurer’s set

Don't worry too much about what gear you have until later, just use random higher-tier gear that doesn't conflict too much and don't craft

While you are still progressing through the game and levelling the gear that you use is largely unimportant. Feel free to use whatever you find, and if you want to level a tad faster you can use either armor/accessory sets or xp bonus gear.

By the time you make it into the higher level dungeons and endgame, you will have a lot of options that "matter" or change your gameplay to a large degree. Most of the enemies in the game do not become too difficult until around level 70, so there is no stress for you to get specific gear and items you will soon find to be levelling out of anyways.

Crafted items are powerful but I highly advise not doing them during your first playthrough.
They're just so boring and tedious to do and will end up being just a massive time waster.

Just like the others said on this thread, you can do fine with just slapping on whatever decent stuff you find near the beginning of the game.
I would say around level 50-60 is where you actually have to start considering a bit about your builds.

slapping on random gear works fine, although in later levels i'd recommend at least trying to optimize a little bit

use wynndata and use whatever items are on the trade market and look cool until like
    90 or smth
or whenever you just upgraded gear but it isnt enough
then use some builds in class build section
theres an entire thread on nonmythic builds in the class build section, go check that out once you're lvl 100 or so
edit: adventurers set is good at lvl 30
you can slap on partial morph if you dont know what to do
and get champion set at lvl 75 after toa is done

my dms are open if you want direct advice (Qzphs#3898 or forum conversation). optimizing gear at lower levels isn't that important so it shouldn't matter that much.
