1.21: Thoughts and speculations thread (January update)

My current guess is that the image with all the blue stuff is a hint towards its name. “The big blue update”, or “the blue update” would be quite fitting names if it was to be an ocean rework.

 

I think that the blue picture is tied to the ocean somehow... is it a part of a coral reef?

 

One thing that puzzled some people about the Thesead rework is that it's supposed to be a coal mining town, so why is it so big and rich now? What if... it's not a coal mining town any more? There's diamond mines all around COTL, what if it's a diamond mining town now? Or perhaps they just export coal and get rich off that idk.

Is it not bigger? It seems bigger. But it’s definitely more colorful, and color would cost more money for Thesead. Also, it looks like there’s more stone than there is now.

 

It's true! Seemingly every photo taken during the great depression is black, white and grey, therefore because people had no money, colour ceased to exist in the world! Just because its meant to be a poorer town doesn't mean it cant have colour. Also it was blue before.

 

They're literally a mining civilization in a massive rocky canyon, i doubt stone is at all costly for them.

 

Here's my speculation and logic for the release date:

Easter 2022 is April 17th. I believe that there will be an event running up to Easter in the same way that there was for Halloween (and I'm sure we'll get the festival of Wynnter for the run up to Xmas). So, if this is true, the event will begin in late March (because the events are 3 weeks long). I do not believe that the update will drop after Easter nor during the Easter event.
I don't believe that we'll get the update later than Easter (no real evidence for this).
This would put the update at any time before late March. So maybe mid March?

Also, we've only had 2 monthly CT updates, and I believe (like 1.20) we'll get 3. After the December CT update, instead of a January CT update, we'll get the trailer on the 21st (because 1.21) followed by the changelog in the following days/weeks (early February?) and then the Beta in early/mid February. This would give about a month of the Beta running before it's... you guessed it... mid March.

This would also leave a couple of weeks for people to enjoy the update before the new event drops.

Basically, I think we'll get the 1.21 update around the middle of March (10th-17th?)

Obviously, this is total speculation, but I just thought it'd be fun.

 

I expect summer 2022, they said this update will be later than usual in this thread and I doubt we'll get the update so soon, Your guess may be more accurate for the hero beta though

 

THEY NEED TO MAKE FRUMA. THEY ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO MAKE FRUMA.
THAT WOULD BE THE GREATEST UPDATE IN HISTORY AND I WOULD LOVE WYNNCRAFT FOREVER AND EVER.

This update is already confirmed to not be Fruma.

I bet it doesn’t add or revamp any major regions (maybe/probably oceans tho). I think it’s gonna be a QOL update with things like revamped pvp/hunted mode

 

with the thesead rework, i hope we get the remaining areas of cotl that werent redone in 1.20 finsihed. (so bantisu and the hive mainly, plus the other assorted bits that werent changed)

 

i am really happy about Thesead getting reworked. it has a really, really good song and needed a revamp for a while.
Actually, i'm surprised they didn't do it in 1.20. Probably just because 1.20 was already getting to big and they decided to move the revamp to the next update.
