I have a semi-full raindbow build and i wondered if it was essential to put the powders on the armor as well to optimize the damage/defence
my build is mostly based on rainbow damage and at the moment i have a gale's force (F6W6L6) as a bow in anticipation of moving to freedom

first off you should have put two of the same powder on your gale's force to get a powder special (requires two of the same type of powders from t4 and up). You don't really need to powder your armor but you could for armor specific powder specials

you dont need to powder your armor, but you need to powder your weapon correctly
for gale's I would do a6w6w6, tho for that build would be better getting an orange lily (w6w6e6)
    also what powder is L6?

Instead of trying to get a rainbow bow, why don't you just get enough damage in specific element to cut through element defense?
