Heyo everyone!

Last year, we started doing monthly posts showcasing some new stuff from the upcoming update. We’re bringing that back this year too! So welcome to the first CT thread of 1.21!

Since this is the first post of 1.21 we won't be revealing the theme of the update just yet, but we still want to show some cool stuff. Although keep in mind this update will not be as massive as the previous one and will be a little more rework-focused than 1.20. Worry not, we still have new content planned as well.

Lastly, remember that we are still working on the update, so things on this thread may change.

--Galleon’s Graveyard Rework--​

This update, we’ve decided to take a more in-depth look at dungeons as a whole. We started out with Galleon’s Graveyard, as we feel it is definitely one of the dungeons that have aged the worst over time. We’re starting to add some new changes, which will come to Galleon’s Graveyard first, to keep things fresh.

We're implementing 2 modes in dungeons: Story Mode and Normal Mode.
One of the major issues we found while brainstorming about dungeons was how the dungeon and its quest never really tied together.

In story mode, we're adding little cutscenes and interactions that make the quest and dungeon feel like one storyline that makes sense together. Cutscenes, dialogues and animation would not be present in the normal mode, allowing you to speedrun it.

In the new Galleon's Graveyard, we're adding underwater sections with fast swimming (faster than vanilla 1.13). You'll be able to breathe underwater by going through air bubbles, which will also give you a speed boost. The new swimming mechanics are mainly limited to exploration and puzzles.

We are also looking into spicing up the dungeon a bit and improving replayability by adding special modifiers. I won’t go into too many details about that (we're still early on those), but here’s one of them!

Remember that these dungeon changes are only for Galleon's Graveyard for now. And as always, things are subject to change - so don't take things on these threads as fully finished.
