When you usually pass by the Ruined Olmic City to head to the Tol Altar or Lutho chances are you may have heard this sound.

If anyone has any more information or theories about this "easter egg" please come forward to share it!

i think it could be some sort of top secret discovery when you should trigger all places that emittes the sound.

That would actually be pretty interesting, if it isn't fake

Doubt it, all secret discoveries have been found and one like this would probably have been found too

are you really trying to tell me that the silent expanse has been out for 2 years yet only now this is found? and it sounds like it was edited in? not a single person claims to have found this before and i don't think any sound effect like that exists in the wynnpack (somebody confirm please)

people run through Olmic city EVERY DAY, lootrunning, eo running, questing, secret discovery hunting, guild warring, etc and not a SINGLE PERSON over the past 2 YEARS has heard this?

the sound effect is louder than the music which also makes me think it's edited

this is probably fake (it isnt)

edit: not fake, it's bell sound effects from 1.14 and a closer look at the footage shows that a bell sound effect did indeed play
this may have been added in 1.20.4 or something

Hey, I'm the one who recorded the video (although Cyana was the one who originally found it). Yeah, I know lots of people are around there, but thing is a lot of the playerbase (especially the lootrunning playerbase) is using wynntils and therefore not playing on a version that this sound can play on. Also, it's not "louder than the music"- that's my bad, there's just straight up no music because I play with that toggled off & forgot to turn it back on/didn't think it was necessary.

I already found it to be real, i was too busy looking at evidence for it being fake to look for evidence that it was real, sorry about that

For what it's worth, I've heard this too so I can say it isn't fake or edited

I also hate whoever added this for making me think I was going nuts because nobody else ever heard it

I wasn't sure whether to post this, but I figured I'd share it here. I've been a CT member since just before the Silent Expanse update, and along the way I've seen and heard some things related to this that I think you guys will be interested in.

This is probably the weirdest CT story I have, if you can believe that, given the state of the build server thread. Now, I don't know if this is true in every CT Group, but in the CMD team, it's sort of an unspoken, regular thing we run into. You can try asking about it with other CT members, but even if they know what you're talking about, they probably won't say anything about it. We've been told not to talk about it by management, and at this point we've all gotten so used to it that it doesn't even seem weird anymore. On just about every req when we're working around the SE City area, I'm talking within 300 or 400 blocks, at some point we'll hear a bell toll, seemingly from the big structure in the middle of the city. A sound. On the build server. It's perhaps more disquieting when you're used to the tranquility of the build server - the mobs are gone, the quests are disabled -- and the sound systems are off. It's almost like you went your entire life without hearing any game sounds, and then out of nowhere a sound pounces out of the darkness and assaults your earlobes. I asked about it the first time I saw some, and the other cmd just told me not to worry about it, that it was normal. Everyone I asked said the same thing. I wanted to try and find the source of the noise, but I was told, very emphatically, that I should never go looking for, or try to disable, the sound. The strangest thing is, it's never the same sound. Always a different bell, or pitch, or volume. I just sort of ignore it now when it happens because it's such a frequent occurence.

We accepted a new CMD into the team during the making of the SE update, who heard the sound too. They asked me about it and I just told them to ignore it, as I was told when I was new. I can only assume that their curiosity got the better of them, and they went to try and find the source of the sound - when I came back from being AFK, they had left the game, and the chunk containing the spire of the big building was corrupted; we had to load it from a backup. Oh, and I never saw that player on the build server again. Thankfully, nobody has ever heard the bell ring outside of the ruined city, although this does mean that most of the CMD team is reluctant to take requests in that area. I don't mind, I'll take the karma since nobody else wants to do the request. As long as I'm careful not to go near the ruined structure where the sound is coming from, I've been fine so far.

That's actually really creepy, even though it's literally just a bell sound effect

Obviously this is just an "insane epic spooky story" that you're telling here with an exaggerated truth but it's impressive how much you can do with the description of a bell sound effect lol

I kind of want to see more Wynn creepypastas now with stupid themes

To be fair though, ??? initially was even more difficult. Like they removed one part where you had to step on any 3 stone pressure plates around the map at the same time. But no one of course knew that so to them it could’ve been one, two, or 5 pressure plates they needed to stand on.

I can kind of see now why they banned people who explained how to do it if people were world downloading in order to find it

Also, I thought the original ??? was almost completely different to the current one?
