Question about Elementar Damage

Hey,
I would like to know, whats Elementar Damage means ?
I have a Weapon which has a Earth skill and i dont know what this means ?
Is there any special Ability or something else ?

elemental damages work the same as neutral damage unless the thing you're attacking has an elemental defense or weakness for that element - in which case the elemental damage will either decrease or increase (in some cases, it can be completely nullified). there aren't special abilities for just elemental damage, although powders can give abilities and increase damage of their respective element.
(mobs also can have elemental damage which work the same way against your own positive or negative elemental defenses)
