Before we start some people might not know this cursed meme 'Spider Build'

The final goal of this challenge is beating Legendary Island, by using any possible method. (But must be solo!)
This challenge is created by @Shots when I was actively doing various LI challenges, and for many many years, he and people are asking me to do it.

There were many patches and updates through years - Boss regen nerf, str/dex patch, tomes, etc.
Some of those updates gave the possibility on Spider Build challenge, yet I'm still facing some problems.
This boss is one of them.



Corkus Virus Doctor

It's the boss of Bronze II in Legendary Island.
Excluding the high damage and danger spell combo, this boss must be easy for most players.
However, this bossfight contains... serious problem for spider build.

Corkus Virus Doctor has rainbow defense, thus with weak weapon like Fangs, it's impossible to deal element damage, so I must use raw spell to deal damage.
If this was the only issue then it shouldn't be the problem, because even if it takes long, since regen is nerfed, I can just keep fighting.
However, this mob spawns in this bossfight.



Regenerative Virus

It uses deadly spell, HEAL.
And there's bunch of these mobs, so since my damage is very low, they can heal Corkus Virus Doctor to full health easily. So I can't just target boss like normally!

To deal with this situation, I made the strategy.


1. At the start of fight, keep typing /class until Regenerative Virus don't target Corkus Virus Doctor.

Their AI is 'following other mob', so when they're spawned, they'll target the closest mob near to them, and keep following it. But where am I going to use this mechanism?

2. Aggro all Silverfish far away from boss.

Those silverfishes have higher player detection range than Corkus Virus Doctor, which means even if you're at the other side of the arena, boss won't target you, however silverfishes will and chase you.
By using this, you can get silverfishes away from boss. And then you can go attack the boss.

However, while you're fighting the boss, Silverfishes will come back eventually, so you should keep watching them and keep the silverfishes away from the boss.

It's normal rainbow build with 'not-much damage boost', so it can be fair to test damage of the weapon 'Fangs'
Only Raw Spell damage would matter for this challenge, so bit of raw spell boost, too.

...but it's not always working well.
Why is that?

Even if you're doing it right, boss will use its spell randomly, like 'Charge'
If boss randomly jumps into crowd of Silverfish, it'll regain its health really quick, then it's failure.

(As you can see in the video, I took boss down to near 300k, but later it became 700k. Can you believe this??)

And if fight goes too long... since Spider Build must rely on consumables, if their duration runs out, it's over.
(Damage, Health, Mana, everything is coming from consumables!)



So I need your help to get out of this situation.
Can you think of any good way to solve this problem?

Is it impossible to use consumables to get enough poison to outdamage raw spell? If it's not, you could try poison instead, and poison also has the advantage that you can snipe the virus doctor from across the arena with smoke bombs instead of having to occasionally charge in through a horde of silverfish. Even if the maximum damage from poison is slightly less, could the reduced risk make the strategy more consistent?

 

Poison was one of the idea to boost damage much when considering consumables for challenge

But.. there's lack of poison consumable ingredients, and some of good ingredients are too rare
(Most of them are T2 or T3)

But if I don't have any other choices, then maybe I should actually find those

 

I'm sure that you'd get plenty of willing sacrifices that would gladly give you all their time for grinding ingredients if that made Spider Build possible, so I wouldn't put rarity as an issue.

Is it possible to get the silverfishes stuck using uppercut/some other spell?

This is quite possibly the worst mistake of my entire life but I appreciate it nonetheless.
Anyways, your strategy is probably the only one that can feasibly work (besides poison like Blue stated) without godlike rng, and even still you need godlike RNG lol. Really the only other option is to try and get Virus Doctor stuck in a wall where he can't charge out, but then you risk not getting the token after that.

Can't wait for when we never get part 2 of the ordeal.

Vindicator: exists

 

Even with Vindicator, it's still a pretty sizeable gamble. You have to have it where Virus Doctor would be close enough to where Vindicator would be able to grab the token through a barrier/wall (of which there are multiple layers) and pray that the direction of the token spawn doesn't just immediately fling into the stratosphere due to the slight delay between magnet functioning as soon as an item drops. It certainly would help but even then it is going to be RNG no matter what and probably screw you over unfortunately.

 

I have experience with virus doctor and meme builds, I was stuck on him for quite a while with my escape spell build. granted, that build had a lot more dps than spider build. for one, what was the 38sp put into in the build u said ur using?

 

Main build is using crafted chestplate ocea steel abuse so it has small sp remaining
Libra is just placeholder

 

What does your consumable set look like right now? That does seem like it would be the most fruitful avenue for improvement.

 

For offense it'd be same as Panic Zealot - Cat Food spam food, and Glacial Anomaly pot (and maybe stat pots too?)

Poison food is just randomly thrown in it
Idk if I'd use mana pots again hmm

For defense.. it's not really set however (might consider duration depends on how long fight would go for each bosses)
But it'd be like Fiery Aura spam scroll, something Farcor's Trust thing pot, Dark Iris regen pot, and stat pots.

 

id say to use panic attack over clockwork, as much as health may matter, you're constantly breaking off from virus doctor to catch aggro of like 20 silverfish, and some life steal would go a super long way. also walk speed would be helpful due to silt being silt

 

along with that, one strat ive used in many games/servers including wynncraft is setting a wynntills stopwatch/external stopwatch/metronome that keeps track of mana regen. essentially, since mana regen is on a global timer, you can start a stopwatch or 5/4 60bpm metronome and every time it hits a X:X5 or X:X0, your mana'll regen. it helps a lot for minmax-ing dps, because youll always know to start spellspamming at an X:X3 or an X:X8, so your mr triggers right when u run out of mana.
you can also try to optimize the overall dmg in the build once you're more comfortable with the fight.

And I assume you dont want to open this can of worms yet, but what do you think youll end up doing about water sword in robob?

 

This may break the challenge a little bit... but maybe you could replace fangs with a stronger spider-related item...
