Serious Cubecraft just copypasted Wynncraft

In both versions of Cubecraft there is a new gamemode called "Magic Mayhem" which has exploration quests fighting etc etc

And the worst part...

IT HAS MORE PLAYERS THAN WYNNCRAFT

I played the gamemode and to me it seems like a mix of Wynncraft + Hypixel Skyblock with some original concepts in there, though I have to admit the Corruption is just a blatant copy.

 

Watch it either die out in a week or turn into the same mess that Hypixel Skyblock is

 

i played it (on java at least, didn't know about a bedrock version), and while it seemed fun with some unique stuff, there was like no story whatsoever and all the quests were just "fetch me that, kill this" and it quickly became extremely grindy

 

i haven't played this yet but it has axolotls walking upright which automatically makes it a masterpiece


Checking their website it doesn't seem like this is a wynncraft copy at all, even factoring in stuff like The Corruption (which is a common trope in general), in fact I'd say it looks quite different.

 

damn cubecraft is still a thing? I used to love to play sky block and minigames there

 

I pray that one day the abuse of the "Serious" tag will stop.

It's just another attempt at a Minecraft RPG. It's hardly worth thinking about, let alone getting angry.

 

Don't get me wrong, I'm passionate about Wynncraft and think of it as the definitive Minecraft MMORPG, but that does not mean I think of every Minecraft MMORPG as 'a wynncraft clone.' Hypixel Skyblock can be called an MMORPG, and guess what? It is not a Wynncraft clone in the slightest. Zentrela? That was a Minecraft MMORPG, not a carbon-clone of Wynncraft.

Seriously, I get it, you're passionate and love the server, but calling other Minecraft MMORPGs as Wynncraft Clones is like saying all platformers are Mario clones.

 

I mean, I'm not mad about it being very similar to wynncraft its bc it has less effort and triple the players of Wynncraft

The reason some other servers may have more users is because of general server popularity, server type (is it mini-game based, does it require multiple logins to progress a story, etc), and stability. We struggle with server stability (lag-free gameplay or high volume of bugs, to name a few) which may explain a significantly smaller player base. Furthermore, Wynncraft has a lore focus which Hypixel Skyblock or this Cubecraft MMO doesn't from what I know.

 

guys if ound this CARBON COPY of wynncraft called run escape you can cut down trees in that game and wear armor so its a copy and paste of wybnncraft

 

Ok so more serious response:

I played the server for like an hour and here's my review based on first impressions:

The server starts with literally no explanation in complete silence, with a water wand on the ground as well as a random guy so it's a little jarring. Pretty much you speed through quests during the tutorial which takes place in a giant cave filled with humanoid Axolotls. It teaches a few game mechanics so it works as a tutorial but there's much room for improvement.

Once you exit the cave the game introduces the ''Corruption'' however it's quite different to the Wynn corruption. While it uses netherrack and fire as its theme, the story for it seems a little different. You're told to go to 2 portals to complete missions in the areas they take you to.

The tutorial teaches you about elemental essences which are a somewhat rare drop from enemies (i estimate like a 5-10% drop chance for each kill) and it only requires that you get 2 water essences to finish the segment. Immediately upon exiting the cave you are told to get 25 by an NPC. I decided to do that quest anyway, regardless of how stupid it was, so I went into the cave to find some. Instead, I stumbled upon a portal. I jumped in since it seemed more relevant to the main story than the essences, and was in a rocky area with dwarves in it. A dwarf told me to go into a random cave to find a way into the main city (which was very similar to Thanos from Wynncraft, however you have to remember that Thanos is not OUR original concept). The cave is basically a labyrinth where you can only walk and you have blindness. Another player led me to the end of the cave and there was a dragon dude who gave me a fire wand.

Upon exiting the cave I was told that the path to the city had cleared and that I needed to find a way in. The game then introduced a really awesome central mechanic (that was kinda introduced at the end of the tutorial but was limited to extinguishing fire with my water wand) which is that you can mess around with fire if you have a fire wand and water wand. You can extinguish decorative torches, rescue NPCs, do puzzles etc.

I lit a torch outside the cave and the door opened. I went to the NPC in the middle of the town who seemed to be a side quest, as a more important NPC was to his left. After doing an easy parkour I met an NPC who told me to find a secret at the town's central statue, which was easy because it was just flaming torches. The game awarded me with the earth wand, but I couldn't figure out what to do from there so I cut my playthrough short

There were 2 more wands that I never got which were the air and ice wand. I might play the server more to test those out

Now here's what I think:

Mechanics:
Amazing. I was blown away by the fire and water system, despite it being really simple. As well as these, you can also upgrade your weapons (though it takes a lot of grind to do so) and you can fast travel at crystal checkpoints. I really feel like the game should be more based around puzzles with the elemental wands

Mobs:
Pretty cool, there are hardly any mobs but each of them has its own unique spell. Plus, the design quality of the mobs is higher than what Wynn AND Hypixel offer, but that's easy for them to do since there's like a grand total of 7 armor stand models needed

Map:
The builds aren't great, at least compared to Wynncraft. The Wynn map is absolutely stunning in many places, but the Cubecraft RPG map doesn't seem to be an open world and the builds are generic.

Writing:
Kinda lame to be honest. There's no real story other than the whole corruption thing and you can see that it doesn't take itself as seriously as Wynn with phrases like ''the best in all of Cubecraft''

Music:
There is literally no music. The whole world is silent which is sad because it'd feel a little more fun with some music

Grind:
Here's the big problem with this server: the grind. The game has very little content, and tries to make up for it by including a TON of grind. Ultimately, it just makes it worse. Quests asking you to gather tons of essence, shops requiring you to grind armors and essences to open them. It really ruins a cool server.

Leveling:
You level up way too fast. I found myself at level 20 within half an hour of play. I believe this may be thanks to the rapid fire quests which take 1 step to complete in the tutorial, but I'm not sure

Conclusion:
This game is NOTHING like Wynncraft. It's more akin to Hypixel Skyblock if anything, and it isn't an open world adventure like Wynn. I guess whenever any server annouces ''We're making an MMORG!'' everyone suddenly jumps to the ''WYNNCRAFT CLONE!!!!!'' conclusion. I think Cubecraft RPG could have a lot of potential if it were done better and focused less on grinding.

It didn't, at least when I played. The server had about 700 players online, but Wynn averages like 1.5k players at all times

 

ok so, I play mostly wynn and hypixel in my free time although im not that active on wynn lately.. *ahem* havent joined in around a week now cuz my friends always wanna play minecraft with me, anyways, when i was thinking what i should do cuz i was bored, i looked at cubecraft on my server list and i saw that they have released a new gamemode which is an RPG, and of course since i like RPGs(def not the reason why i like wynn and hypixel skyblock so much) and i wanted to check it out so i joined, idk why they did it but when you join you are getting confused on what you're supposed to do, so i was just sitting there for half an hour trying to figure out stuff after i finished the tutorial, and then i finally found the 2 portals once i got to this dwarven city and talked to couple npcs i realized this server is too much grind, BUT i did a big brain move and decided to spend all my spirits on Luck skill and once i got it to lvl 40 i pretty much had 100% chance of getting essence and i got an armor once per like 7 mobs, then i realized i was too broken and nothing can stop me so i was grinding FOR A WHOLE DAY and i finished every single quest i had and then when i tried to go the darklands i realized i needed to be character lvl 250 so i was grinding axolandls for about an hour then the golems for about half an hour then the fire sentries for another half an hour UNTIL FINALLY I REACHED TO LVL 250, at this point i was pretty tired of grinding here but i knew i was like 10 minutes away from finishing this game, so i went to the darklands, and uh i needed 1 player with me atleast to do "dungeon" i guess i can call it, and it was late at night so i just logged off for the night and joined back in the morning and finally someone joined, now uh if you havent finished this RPG yet and you dont wanna have any spoilers if you are still grinding it, stop reading RIGHT NOW, this boss fight was easier than decrepit sewers dungeon on an archer lvl 6 or something, its just spawning waves of mobs you fought for essence before,(and some couple vanilla mob ones, like golden armored zombies, slimes, magma cubes etc.) and uh, i one tapped the boss, AND ALL THIS ADVENTURE FOR A STU**D VOID WAND that you also cant even upgrade and all it does is basically first you have the void warp i think its called which teleports you to the block you were looking on when you right clicked and the second ability Void Aura idk even what it does cuz i dont have enough mana it costs 700 MANA LIKE DUDE WTF, anyways we all know that wynncraft is better and this rpg they made should not exist at all and yeah if you are still grinding and you were still reading it, STOP GRINDING THIS DUMB RPG you dont even get anything besides like 5k cubecraft xp

I expected it to get a ton of new players because Phoenix SC made a video joking about the Axolandls but surprisingly it didn't

the entire cubecraft rpg is just grinding how is it even comparable to wynn

 

I wonder how the cubecraft mods would take it if people started advertising Wynncraft in the chat of their MMORPG.
