    It is time for another thread that explains mechanics that mean very little to everyone. The topic on today's agenda is the stealing ID. Stealing—explained literally nowhere ingame—is an ID that gives a chance for a single emerald to drop upon attacking a mob.

    Thanks to past testing, (that I can confirm) we knew a few things for certain: A mob can drop up to 5 emeralds from stealing, stealing is a % chance to happen, yeah that is pretty much it. Thanks to @Verle and his testing (big shoutout to him) he came to the following conclusion.

    "When an emerald is dropped, a cooldown is activated during which no emeralds can be stolen. Once this cooldown runs out, each hit has a chance (given by the Stealing stat) to steal an emerald regardless of attack speed. However, the cooldowns are dependent on attack speed." -Verle's thread

    This is pretty spot on except the stealing cooldowns were never found, until now

    Super Fast: 8.6 seconds
    Very Fast: 6.2 seconds
    Fast: 5.0 seconds
    Normal: 4.1 seconds
    Slow: 3.0 seconds
    Very Slow: 1.66 seconds
    Super Slow: ~1 second

    You might be thinking "wow that makes no sense, why do fast attack speeds suck so much?" and to be honest it doesn't make sense. This is also the reason why I think that whoever made stealing also made a critical error. These numbers are exactly twice the assumed (incorrect) hits per second of weapons.
    Super Fast: 4.3
    Very Fast: 3.1
    Fast: 2.5
    Normal: 2.05
    Slow: 1.5
    Very Slow: 0.83
    Super Slow: 0.51
    I believe that when designing stealing it was intended to have a 2 second cooldown but somewhere along the way someone forgot how math works. (doubling hits per second does not = proper cooldown time in seconds)

    With this strange cooldown and greed there is a serious imbalance between super fast and super slow, this imbalance is made much greater by poison. Poison ticks also trigger stealing (cooldown still applies). Super slow has a stealing cooldown of around 1 second, this means that the time between poison ticks is enough for it to reset. This means that when using Super Slow attack speed one hit drops 4 emeralds (1 from initial hit + 3 additional from poison ticks). This gives Super Slow speed 1 emerald per second* compared to Super Fast's ~1/17th emerald per second.

    *I am aware poison is wacky and it is actually 3.25 seconds for a full poison cycle, for you sticklers the proper number is 0.94 emeralds per second, I just wanted to keep this from not being weird decimal numbers.

    In terms of health recovered with greed a build with super slow attack speed and poison (any value but 0, negative works) will recover up to 15%* of their hp per second (I am told greed cooldown is 1s, please correct me if i'm wrong). This is quite unfair when you compare it to a build with a super fast weapon's mere ~1.74% hp per second.

    *for you ppl that cared about the previous astrix, the actual number is 14.11%

    TLDR:
    Super Fast: 8.6 seconds
    Very Fast: 6.2 seconds
    Fast: 5.0 seconds
    Normal: 4.1 seconds
    Slow: 3.0 seconds
    Very Slow: 1.66 seconds
    Super Slow: ~1 second
    stealing HEAVILY favors slow attack speeds. When using stealing in builds also use poison for 4x more effect.

    Ok uhh mandatory AIn plug and @Chrysitis demanded that I mention him for crafting my stealing rings.

    Remember kids, if you want to keep track of your spell damage modifiers by attack speed, just divide the emerald cooldown by 2

    Verle tested this and he mentions in his thread (that's linked in the post) that it's affected by the final attack speed (including + or - tiers), as expected.
