Assassin And Mage Viable Play Styles?

So I’m debating between going assassin or mage as a second class to my archer, and one thing that I’m curious about is what playstyles are viable late game for both classes.
I know for archer spell spam with mr or ms is really the only viable play style, or at least It’s way better than the rest. Bc of this I’m wondering if there’s non spell spam options for these 2 late game just so I can have some variety and won’t just be spamming my mouse slightly different from one class to the next

also which do u think is better, assassin or mage. Mage seems cool cause of the interesting late game wands like the nothing and koh as well as self heal, but assassin seems a bit harder to play and seems to have more strategy, which is pretty fun. I also think assassin’s spells have the best synergy out of the 3.

 

Assassin because your not just a healbot. Use heavy melee or a mana steal build

 

practically all, or nearly all playstyles are "viable" for both classes. You can really run anything you want, as long as it's executed well enough.

 

Mage generally works well with spell spam, but I think I saw a 30k DPS tierstack singularity build before.

Mage is pretty decent with tierstacking (though spellspam is typically still better). Assassin is usually played as a spell steal class, but is exceedingly good at heavy melee, especially with vanish thrown in for a boost.

 

to name some of the main build types

fast melee (can include stuff like tierstack, cancelstack, rawstack), heavy melee, spellspam (mana regen, mr assassin is considered bad but it can be good with stuff like nirvana and proper timings), spellsteal (mana steal), hybrid builds; heavy hybrid (think of it as heavy melee + spell), fast hybrid (fast melee + spell)
