I swear, we don't serve Dern! Just because Bak'al serves what we think is the Dern Beast doesn't mean that the Corruption serves Dern, since
    a) the entity we see talking to Bak'al might not be the entity controlling Dern.
    b) Bak'al doesn't control all corruption - the Corrupter of Worlds isn't controlled by Bak'al, for example.

why do you refer to the corruption in first person

    anyways,
    a) the thing ripped out its eye, its eye becoming The Eye, which in Ne du valleos ellach (probably spelled that wrong) is shown facing off with Orphion, clearly representing Dern Beast
    b) ok and? just because the corruption doesnt necessarily serve Bak'al, doesnt mean the corruption doesnt serve Dern

    First, check my guild
I pretty much gave up on all of the anti-corruption quests and decided to affiliate myself with the corruption, so that.

    a) Ok, that's fair - I probably shouldn't question the fact that the Dern Beast is the Dern Beast.
    b) Also, if Bak'al serves Dern but the Corrupteds don't all serve Bak'al, then there's no reason for the Corrupteds to serve Dern.

I wanted to throw my idea into the mix.

If Light + Dark = corruption, then maybe Bakal serves dern because he is more dark than light?

Also might be strange but I always thought that the spikes of the corruption is the darkness part and the then the colourful red and different monsters might be the light part. Since the corrupter of worlds is uncontrollable that shows how corruption makes things act randomly? I have no idea how to properly say this and I'm not sure I'm making sense but I just think that there must be levels of Dark/Light in corruption. Maybe Bakal is like 90% dark and 10% light whereas the CoW is 50% 50% and damages both sides of the war, unlike Bakal who favours the dark side.

People, please help me. I've been mulling it over, and even ignoring the parts here that don't make sense, I'm starting to question "The Corruption Doesn't Serve Dern", because of the SE discovery.

The argument "Bak'al can't control CoW" doesn't really work, since fine, he can't control this one beast, but he's seen commanding armies of the corrupted, which leads me to believe that he controls the corruption, and, y'know, if he's working for the Dern Beast (as is clearly shown)...

The Corruption is an uncontrolled force, Bak'al merely leads armies - he can't control them. Whilst, yes, he does serve Dern, it doesn't mean that the Corruption itself is controlled by Dern.

You're right - the Corruption is a thing that happens, not a faction that can "serve" anyone. It's like saying that the weather serves Dern.

So me saying that it was like the weather was a metaphor. It's an event that happens when Light and Dark clash, and it can't be something that "serves" anyone, since it's an event and not a faction. Perhaps the undead armies are commanded by Bak'al, but that doesn't mean that the Corruption itself (the thing that sprung said undead armies into existence) is controlled by Bak'al; it's not. I'm hard-pressed to think of similes right now, but it's not something that can serve anything, since it's something that happens and not an entity or group of entities.
