I have reexamined my life 5 times while writing this

But it needed to be done to balance out the lari x player fic I saw

It was not many days after player met that one engineering Avos girl. She was in all means memorable. Gray feathers, tribal jacket, but wearing goggles and holding wrenches at the same time. Her face looked uncanny at first, but more and more attractive the more he saw.

It was another day looking for the random magic on the world. Passing by Ava's workshop, player just thought of her, and decided to visit it once more. When he got closer, familiar cranking sounds were heard inside.

'Isn't this rude?' He hesitated for a moment, since there wasn't even any quest this time. But when he first entered, he did exactly like this, and she welcomed him all the time. Finally, Player made up his mind, sighed deeply, stepped into the workshop again.

"I'm not making another growth accelerator!..." The Avos girl panicked. Several more cranking sounds were heard, then she urgently revealed her head down the stairs. "...Oh, it's you."

Player just gazed at her and waved his hand, with little smile on face. She always sounded like half bird half human, but especially birdy when her voice went high. And it was quite cute, to be honest.

She came down the stairs, and jumped down the last few steps.

"Why did you come here? I was thinking of calling ya later, but I don't need you now." said Ava, scratching her head.

'I knew it.' Player thought, as he awkwardly stepped back at the door. He turned around without words.

"Wait wait! D-Didn't meant you to leave."
Suddenly, Ava grabbed player's arm firmly. "We can... do something. Like, uh, check out my other works."

Player finally opened his mouth. "Cool. Let me see."

They climbed up the stairs together. When player carefully looked around the workshop again, he could notice many new things. Loads of books were on the shelves, mostly torn and tainted. 'Basics of electromagic', 'guide to welding', it looked like she picked them up from corkus junkyard.

"You know, it's really good to have someone in this workshop whose purpose isn't bashing me and everything I made." said Ava, chuckling a little. Player just then turned his head to the avos girl, who was looking at him whole time. Getting attention from bird-person felt a little strange and exotic, but warm still.

"Does other avos visit you often?"

"No, and it's better in that way, for both." Though she was smiling, it was empty. She sighed as if a heavy debt was on her.

They finally arrived at the top, and there were conveniently two chairs next to the desk. The desk was mess of papers, full of scribbled blueprints and equations. Eh, it's not like he was going to understand it anytime soon. Player drew attention from them, and focused on Ava once again, who was just awkwardly sitting there.

"Me too. it's good to have someone to chat without some 'quest' purpose." said the player. "Actually, I think this is the first time I've actually had personal talk with someone."

"Really?" Ava raised her eyebrows, surprised. "Aren't you like adventurer? You must have met a lot of person."

"Yeah, but like none of them lasted. There was one elf girl with white hair, who worked with me for a while. Then she went to a portal of pure darkness to chase someone, haven't seen her since."

Player began to feel more depressing as he spoke. The bird girl seemed to notice it, too. "There was also a guy who exploited me to bring all crystals, who eventually I had to fight... and... I can't remember anyone these days, traveling canyons takes too long time."

"Man... Maybe you can take things a little more slowly, you know?" She said. "Maybe settle somewhere for some years, get to know some friends... Of course I don't mean it has to be here, heheh."

"I can't. There's a war in my province." Player had strange feeling he shouldn't say this, although it's not a secret that shouldn't be leaked. He squinted his eyes. While Ava, just tilted her head in curiosity.

"What war? Wait, are you from Wynn?"

Player nodded, recalling his memories. "Technically Fruma, but I can't remember anything from back there... So yeah, I'm Wynn soldier."

"I read about it on the book. The war going on, thousands of people getting killed by undeads, corruption..." said Ava, pulling a tainted brown book from her shelf. Player wondered and had a glimpse of it, too. It was no different from what he discovered from Wynn plains: thousand years of war. Slight sketch of portal.

"It must be pretty hard in there. You fought these monsters everyday?" Ava was loss at her words. The book was quite descriptive, all the bloody scenes even made player feel uneasy again. Ava's face was full of guilt, even though she has nothing to do with it.

Player just put his hand on her, then closed book. "It's... not that bad now. Plus there are some other non-corrupted areas like nesaak."

Ava just sighed. She looked downstairs, and glimpsed at the weapon the player left on the entrance. She then looked at her gears.

"Still, you've been through all sorts of things. While I mostly just sit in here, complaining about tiniest things..." said Ava, in crippling voice. She couldn't dare to see player's eyes now. "You think... I'm whiny, don't you?"

Player realized what she was doing. He pulled his chair closer to her, and touched her arms. He lowered his head to her level, then said with softest tone.

"No, nono, I think you had pretty hard time, too, if not worse. I mean, at least I can unite with other people to kick those undeads. But you... everyone seems to be against you."

"Yeah, maybe you're right. Chieftain hates me, Avos hates me, Corkus people hates me..." said Ava, now in full tears. "Heck, can you t-take me to Wynn? I'd be able to build super c-cannon or something, then I will be accepted there at last..."

"No I can't." Player awkwardly pat her back. "Don't think like that. People are nicer than you think."

"Like you?"

"Like me."

Ava pulled player closer, until their stomach touched. She wrapped her feathery arms around the player, as player did too. Nothing else was there, no sounds, no monsters, only the two. They hugged together until their tears dried.

Ava buried her head in player's chest. Player could feel her feathers, and her beak softly pressed on him. Slowly but surely, her sob ceased.

"Humans are... warmer than I thought." She spoke, her voice muffled by player's body.

"And you are... fluffier than I thought?"
replied player, awkwardly.

After countless time passed, Ava finally loosened her arms, as player did, too. She backed up a bit, then gazed at player's pupils. Their cheeks slowly started to redden. Ava chuckled awkwardly.

"Man, Chieftain's gonna kill me if he knows it. I mean literally this time." said Ava. Player rubbed his head and backed away, realizing what he just did with a complete different speices. But Ava just grabbed his hand once again.

"Secret, right?"

"S-Secret. Guess I need to go now."
Player tried to turn back. But Ava grabbed his hand again, though a lot weaker this time.

"Wait... can you stay a little longer?" She shily asked.

"Sorry, I got war to fight, remember?"

"Right.... I'll call you later when my machine finishes. See you then." The bird girl shook his hand one last time. After exchanging last glimpses, player finally walked down the stairs to leave.

"Oh and before you go!"

Suddenly, Ava jumped all the way downstairs. Without giving a chance to react, she bumped his nose with her beak. Briefly, they were at point blank range again.

"It, uh, means good luck in Avos culture. Don't die or break your hands!"

Leaving the bird girl waving at him, player left the workshop. He canceled his plan after, and just headed directly back to city.

After all, even mythic wouldn't be more memorable than this.

for some painful and awful reason i decided to actually read this instead of contemplating what went wrong with humanity and after i stopped shuddering and cringing i noticed some flaws in the writing

you know, despite all the grammar errors and typos, that's actually pretty sweet! too bad everyone seems to be against that :(

Yo If this keeps up there might be enough material and content to make a full blown Wynn craft Dating Sim (Also great job on the story it was very sweet also the grammar can never perfect all the time don't let that stop you.)
