What About The Loose Rock And Second Corridor In Out Of My Mind?

I just finished the Out Of My Mind quest, and I still had the lab key so I went back to explore, and when I was there I saw a furnace with particles on it, and when I interacted with it I received +1 loose rock, anyone know what it is used for? it isn't a junk item but it is untradeable.
Also, near the end of the quest the man says "ignore the corridor on my right", but when I try and go into the corridor nothing happens. is it possible to go through the corridor?

 

the rock can be used to smash the window at (-2834, 183) and let you into the little zoo chamber - this also triggers a talking mushroom dialogue if you have one in your inventory

Spoiler: the corridor on the right

as far as i know, it can never be accessed from the inside, but it leads to the old ariodo's lab, where you get the talking mushroom secret. you can go through a doorway from that lab that takes you through the corridor on the right to a non-quest version of ariodo's normal lab (identical but ariodo isn't there and only the corridor taking you back to the old lab works to get out). so no it isn't possible to go through it but it does canonically lead somewhere.
