Longest War Timer Possible

Another thought experiment by me again yay!

This will be a much shorter post. Allow me to explain what this is.

Each time a guild attacks a territory, Wynncraft tries to find the shortest (or cheapest?) route to the territory. However, if a territory along this route has its borders closed, the emeralds will be rerouted around the territory to the next shortest (or cheapest?) route. The only time this doesn't work is if there is no other way around the closed territory, so the emeralds will flow through it. As such, the longest war timer can be made by closing certain borders by other guilds so that when a certain guild attacks a certain territory, the emeralds flowing through must flow through territories that have open borders unless there is no other way around the closed borders. Each time the attack emeralds must flow through a territory, it adds 1 minute to the war timer. The war timer has a base 1 minute, with 2 minutes at the minimum to attack a territory right next to the HQ. Let's illustrate an example.



Let's assume that in the picture above, AVO wants to attack IBT. Shy has its borders closed. The attack emeralds will have to reroute northwards through Pigman Ravines. This may take up more emeralds than usual as these extra territories may have taxes in addition to a much longer timer.

What happens if there is no other way? The attack will flow through the shortest route, through the closed border. In the below picture, URMOM wants to attack the territory north of Lutho. Even if Lutho has its borders closed, the emeralds will still flow through Lutho because there is no other route to it. Ignore the "?".





Now that is done, Let's assume that in the following image, FFA represents any other guild with their borders closed, AVO is the route to take, and the HQ is either on the northwest-most corner or the southeast-most corner. AVO wants to attack on the opposite side of the map.

The route to the opposite side will travel through 201 territories, which means the war timer will be 202 minutes long.

As an extra, what if all of AVO's territories except where the HQ is placed is owned by other guilds with their borders open and at 80% tax? FFA territories still have their borders closed. Then the compound tax is:

I found out an even longer path now hahahahaha! Set the HQ at desert or SE now. It is 7 minutes longer now for a total of 209 minutes.

Very easy to do. If all territories are owned by NONE, their borders would already be closed. Now all you have to do is have one guild set up their HQ in the desert and every other guild help work to take all these specific territories, then cede them all to the other guild in SE.

Or have one guild in the desert and another guild in SE and have them both slowly expand outward while also moving their HQ on the line as they take over. Then have one of them cede to the other and voila.

It will be VERY INTERESTING what the amount it would cost to attack if tax is at 80%. I suspect either HB crashes (LOL) or it would be a severe integer overflow to the point where maybe u could attack at some random number, including negative.

At some point the tax simply rounds to 100%, at least visually. Afaik at that point it doesn't even try anymore, hinting to the fact that the route calc attempt failed due to a division by 0 error

 

It actually does, but only if the closed border is already there before you start it. If there's no other way around the closed border, then it will go through the closed border.

that timer’s so long that you could watch the entirety of avengers endgame and still have over 20 minutes left on the war timer when the movie ends o.O
