Question About Lvl 51 Tainted Step

so I recently put on the level 51 tainted step boots and I noticed I started randomly taking damage and I looked at my gear and saw that the tainted step has -13 heath regen which I think is the problem and if so why the heck is this in the game?

 

So you need gear with hpr to counter it.

 

short answer, because it makes it interesting.

long answer, it's likely in the game to serve as a downside to the stats of the item. In the case of Tainted Step, it's there to counteract the life steal, poison, and main attack damage.

In fact, for Tainted Step, you can use said life steal to indirectly counter the negative health regen! As long as you use your main attack (left click for most classes, right click for archer), you have a chance in each hit to get the said amount from life steal, so if you use the life steal on Tainted Step strategically, you can use it to counter the negative health regen in combat (outside of combat, it could be advisable to use a health regen secondary weapon).

Otherwise, as said above, you can counter the negative health regen directly.
