This is a niche question, but how far away can you kill a mob and still gain XP from it?

For example, if I place a toxo at church, and then travel by foot to Deltas while continuing to uproot the totem, will I still gain XP? If not, what is the maximum range? Assume that there are other players at church as well to load the chunks.

In addition, if I am in a party with players at church, doing the same method, will I get party XP?

I assume as long as the chunks are loaded it works, but I don't think anyone's ever bothered to test if they can grind from the safety of a nearby town... although now that I think about it that seems like a brilliant idea.

I am reasonably sure that the range is technically infinite for all intents and purposes. However I am also reasonably sure that the totem will despawn once you get too far, probably when the chunk unloads clientside. This means that even if you can gain xp from a faraway mob there isn’t any way to damage it. You only gain xp from the party if you are within 20 blocks of the mob killed iirc.

Im pretty sure uproot also has a range, so you cant refresh your totem when jts too far away

You don't have to hit the weapon to refresh the totem.
It resets the timer independently on where it lands

I am not talking about to hit the totem, I am talking about how you cant cast aura when you are 40 blocks away from your totem so I think it would make sense that the uproot spell also doesnt work when you are further away than 40 ish blocks, but idk

I have heard there is a range for uproot but I am not sure how big the range is. I know that the range is much much bigger than that of casting aura however.

I will attempt to test my questions out on my own seeing that no one knows and update this thread accordingly.

I sort of tested the idea of refreshing my totem infinitely and got halfway across Corkus before I quit, with uproot casting just fine. No idea if the totem had despawned by that point though.

It can be easily tested by casting haul (which also has no limits afaik)

I was not aware it had no range limits. Good to know.

Tested it, totems persist, can kill, be uprooted and be hauled to with no limit.

With the help of @ditsario I placed a totem in Witness Church and then walked all the way into Bob's tomb and into Bob's reincarnation fight, while constantly casting uproot.
Wynntils signalised xp gain a second before asked me whether I got xp.

So yes, it is totally possible.
