Mage/Dark Wizard Beginner Lunar Spine Builds

We all know Lunar Spine is a hard weapon to use,
so I wanted to make some gateway dru- I mean
builds that are really easy to use! :D


(kinda lame tho in my opinion -_-)

Basically, the premise of these builds are to use mage’s range to the max and cast one mana meteors from a safe distance using the 4 mana you can recover before the negative mana regen takes it away...

YOU CAN BECOME A TRUE BROTHA IF YOU IGNORE THAT CRUTCH AND USE DAT SWEET MANA STEAL FEARLESSLY AND GO ALL IN IF YOU WANT =)

I recently came back to wynncraft and rolled a lunar spine. Since I think the id's are quite good I'd like to do a lunar build (yes I am only lvl 88 on this class). Is there any reason why you always add Water powder to your ls?

 

You don't hace to, it depends on the build

Curse does give the most effective damage tho so people use it, i use chain and curse most of the time
The curse is great but chain is just addictive imo

Yeah waters for damage like ferret said, but it’s pretty hard to get the special off >.<

And chain lighting pretty much gives you a multitude of mana every 3 hits in addition to obliterating everything around you if you have some raw melee xD

Pretty sure they’re a dark wizard, so they have meteor’s sister spell: Dead Star ;)

All the differences between the two are visual though, dead star just looks really cool :D (I WANT IT)

Before I start monologing, make sure to incorporate frequent heals in your spell cycle, the life steal hurts

Well now that I’ve said that, here we go:

1. Know your mana.

Spoiler

Every 4 mana ticks when holding lunar, your mana is drained; try to swap off the weapon to avoid the draining tick and conserve your mana

You can also use a mana regen secondary weapon that you can swap to before the draining tick to gain additional mana :)

2. Save your melee attacks. (it’s weird, I know)

Upon melee-ing, you have a 49% chance to gain mana through mana steal, so in a sense, make the best of it.

What I mean by this is that it would be a good time to melee straight after the draining tick, as then (if mana steal procs) you would have 4 mana ticks worth of time to cast spells and whatnot before the next draining tick

If mana steal doesn’t proc with the first melee hit, try once more but only once more. If it does proc, you will have 2 mana ticks worth of time to cast spells. Usually this is enough time to cast a max of 3 spells before the drain.

Side tip:

Spoiler

Given the limited time you have if the second melee hit procs, if you want to do damage before the drain cast a meteor before any of your other spells.

You do so because meteor isn’t instant, and waiting for it to land and do damage takes valuable time that could be used to cast other spells to evade enemy attacks or regen health.

3. Don’t be greedy.

If 2 melee attacks did not proc mana steal,

SWAP. OFF.

A third melee attack ensures that you’ll be a sitting duck, as it doesn’t matter if the mana steal procs or not because the draining tick is right next door.

Your melee attack, your only source of mana will be on cool down, and won’t refresh until you’re 2 mana ticks into the next 4 mana cycle.

Personally I’d just wait for the mana cycle after that one, but if you’re feeling risky you could go with the second melee attack strategy. If mana steal doesn’t proc, swap off as usual...

trift spine, (If you have tomes, swapping yang or archaic to intensity gives a nice damage bonus)

Spine is one of the few weapons i'd be comfortable efte-osoing, but even then time rift is probably still better overall.
