Back in august of last year I made a thread which was my list of the 5 worst and best quests. However, the quests in 1.20 have changed the list quite a bit, some due to revamps and others due to new quests being added that are superior to others. I said on Jbip's profile that I would make a 2nd list due to these changes so here it is.

    Worst quests

Dishonourable mentions: Wynnexcavation site D (because its boring), Recover the past, From the bottom

    5: Temple of the Legends
god damn i really hope the next update is a storyline update so these old wynn quests get reworked (NPC and mob changes in a few wynn quests this update hint at this, please CT please)
Anyway, this has always been one of my least favourite quests to do because of how painfully long it is and how many emeralds you have to spend on it (wasting my life savings and soul points travelling the world is so much fun after all). And then, you have to fight CoW and lose what little soul points you have left. I've heard that the Warden of Wisdom from Headless History is pretty hard though, so maybe the difficulty spike isn't as bad anymore.

    4: The thanos vaults
    Minecart simulator
What, you wanted me to say more? fine.
This quest, although very scenic, is boring. I think it was slightly changed in 1.20 to go with the Thanos rework, which is nice. Still though, this quest is just boring. Plus the minecart physics make it worse. If this quest got any better in 1.20 then change it for From the Bottom in the dishonourable mentions

    3: The canary calls
Here goes my rant about CotL quests that direly needed a 1.20 rework and didn't get one. This was on my last list as #4, but has been moved to #3 due to some of the quests from there becoming much, much better. One thing I don't get though is that this, one of the most painstakingly buggy quests in the game, was not reworked in the update about Gavel. Now, I haven't done this quest in 1.20 so I don't know if the bullshit minecart physics were fixed or not but that doesn't take away from the fact that this quest is boring and annoying. This quest should not only have been reworked, but replaced with a better Thesead quest, maybe one about the Colossus. However, I think #2 would be better for the colossus quest...

    2: The Lost
This quest was not reworked in 1.20 unless you count the change of surroundings. This quest is SHIT and you will not convince me otherwise. I'm not going to go back through why this one sucks so much because I already explained it in the original list from last year (linked in the first paragraph if you want to read it) but what I WILL talk about is how it wasn't replaced with a quest about the Colossus. Now sure, we got a good bit of lore about the Canyon's giant in the secret discoveries, but WHY would they just look at the quest that is literally situated in the exact same area as the colossus and think ''yeah that doesn't look like something we should turn into a colossus quest, let's just leave this hated quest in the game''. I really hope this quest gets redone soon.

    1: The canyon guides.
The. Fucking. Canyon guides. WHY WAS THIS NOT REWORKED????? It's literally one of the most DESPISED GOD DAMN QUESTS IN THE GAME and yet the update about the province it's in didn't rework it. You could easily have turned this quest into some kind of escort mission like seen with Aledar in AJB and AJF but no, of course it's not that simple. Now sure, they could've neglected these quests because they didn't have time to rework them, but they DID replace Eye of the Storm, which wasn't as bad as this quest, so if there was a list of shitty quests to replace then this should've been near the top of the list. I guess navigating your way through the canyon did get a little easier this update but this quest is still bad. Please for the love of god rework this quest. So yeah, 4 of the 5 worst quests in the game are from the Canyon of the Lost. This is why I hate that area (but at least the new Eltom is lovely!)

    Best quests

Honourable mentions: AHC, Beyond the grave, Recipe for disaster, Fantastic voyage, Flight in distress, Shattered minds, Order of the Grook, Forbidden prison

    5: Point of no return
It's finally time to cool off and talk about the good quests. It goes without saying that Grian and the other CT members did a damn good job on these quests. However, this is one of the only 2 quests on the best list that isn't from 1.20. I would just like to change my ranking on the previous thread for point of no return a little bit because this quest is really creative and fun to do. See my reasoning on my old thread.

4: The Hero of Gavel (spoilers ahead)
This quest is really fun and interesting. I really like how doing things slightly differently can alter the entire quest or just unlock an easter egg, for example if you don't save Gurix with the TNT and instead by doing the parkour (or you let him die) then you can use the TNT to unlock a few secret emeralds. If there was one thing I could change it'd be the amount of chances you get on the tile puzzle because it's actually so annoying when you've gone through the whole quest and then Gurix just dies due to a bug on the puzzle. I also love the siegfried statue easter egg after the quest.

3: Light questline (spoilers ahead I guess?)
I can see this being close to the bottom of the worst on many people's lists due to the really long cutscenes, but I don't really care about those. The quests are fun enough and the cutscenes provide interesting lore. Highlights for me when I first did this one include:
Fighting the Grootslang Wyrm as if it were the Eye
Going through Headless history and noticing some cool video game references
Doing the speed parkour in the canned abis (heehee funny weed) cave
    Doing the monolith puzzles
Watching Bak'al appear out of a portal and fight Lari, then get slammed by a Yaming Sword

    2: Misadventure on the sea
Yeah this quest is still good even with all of these new quests overshadowing the others. I still love the cool secrets and stuff blah blah blah check the old thread for more info

    1: The Feathers Fly questline
God damn, Jbip did it again. This questline is amazing. First of all, it's a direct continuation to The Envoy questline (and it's implied after TFF2 that there'll be another continuation, damn. maybe it'll be the questline that gets us to Fruma, that'd be cool.). Next up, we have the creative mechanics. You know what I said about Point of no Return having a creative system? Well yeah, the cool ideas continue in TFF. The clicker minigame is so simple yet so fun. The final one actually feels like a challenge. Then, there's a ton of other creative and interesting ideas like finding clothes for Ava and using the mobs on the giant beanstalk thing to climb up. Not only that, but Jbip once again hid some cool secrets just like he did with Misadventure on the sea. Finally, he made a really interesting and likeable character for the quest, Ava. Too bad the simps ruined her.

Bonus: Addons to a couple of honourable mentions

Forbidden prison: Just like TFF and Misadventure on the sea, this quest has plenty of secrets. I really like the idea that the money you get from the quest is influenced by the choices you make as you go through

Shattered minds: God, this quest got even weirder this update. I love the frog character and how Yahya has this quirky intro cutscene now, plus how it actually intimidates you by taking away like 75% of your health

I think The Canary Calls is fine. It’s not great of course, but it’s fine. I like the minecart puzzle especially. In general, I can’t say I’m a fan of Wynn’s habit of taking perfectly fine old quests and turning them into 20 minute cutscene hells. Short quests can exist too, you know!

Take Acquiring Credentials for instance. It wasn’t a great quest before, but it was short and had a memorable puzzle. In 1.20, that puzzle was removed and replaced with a generic slay section, and your hand is constantly held by Doan. In other words, everything that was somewhat special about the original quest was stripped away in 1.20. What a shame...

As cool as the old Acquiring Credentials was, i still prefer the new one, and the new one does have an interesting puzzle at the end

Counterpoint: The fact that these quests take like an hour and then some and are required for Orphion mean that for anyone who wants multiple classes with tomes you have to waste your time sitting through stuff you've already seen, and they would in fact be much better if you could skip the cutscenes.

you have insulted THE LOST and thus you must perish

    anyways

before 1.20, from the bottom was one of my least favorite quests. the troll hair grinding still exists, but Thanos rework indirectly improved the quest, making it actually fine :like:

shadow of the beast remains to be the worst quest in the game, even worse than before due to prof reqs.

as for TFF, it's... good, but i didn't think of the clicking minigame as that exciting, it was too easy to master. some diversity was tried to be brought into the minigame with the speed-reward system, which only made it easier, nothing more.

then, as for the beanstalk, i was just really confused in many parts. when the ranged mobs hit the launchers, why does that make me jump? is that intentional? why? i was completely able to get to the top before, this is either very annoying or very easy depending on how things work out. the thing at the top has 3 hearts, but why did i kill it in 2 hits? what?????

the canary calls is completely fine.

No Zhight Island or Tribal Aggression?
Im kinda suprised because they are literally "go there and there" with nothing special, is riding a minecart in a cave really worse than this?

from the bottom did become easier from the rework i noticed

i dont understand how shadow of the beast is bad and i wish people would shut the fuck up about the prof requirements because they arent a disaster like people make them out to be (it would be bad if the prof requirements were like level 60 but these are level 20 profs which take minimal grinding effort)

i'm pretty sure there was a part in TFF explaining the beanstalk but i could be wrong

how is canary calls in any way fine, i'm actually more likely to skip canary calls on a playthrough than i am with the canyon guides. canary calls is supposed to be short but it ends up taking me an hour as i try to figure out how to cheese the puzzle since the whole thing is bugged

You don't think that the game forcing you to just grind for 30+ minutes to start/to complete the quest is bad?

exactly. as I have stated multiple times before, I do not think that having three random level 50ish gavel quests with small-ish (still a fair amount of grinding with every class) is that bad, but I fear what comes next. more reqs, higher reqs. the very existence of quest prof reqs is bad.

there was one for the first section, but nothing for the mobs activating the launchers iirc

i have never had the puzzle bug for me apart from the cart going back/losing speed, which is overcomeable and possibly intended(?), so i can't answer to this.

For that reason, would you also put Bob's Lost Soul as a dishonorable mention? I only ask this because I hate that quest with burning passion.

Really surprised Bob's Lost Soul is not here. The grind for most of these items is nigh-unbearable. Going to Bob's Tomb and reporting back to Tarod isn't that bad, the bad stuff starts when he tasks you to go to Bremminglar. I don't think anyone remembers Bremminglar at all, besides for going there to get the stuff needed for Bob's Lost Soul. So now, you have to get a Rose and Bob's Tear. If you know where the Lonely Rose cave is, then it won't be that bad, but Bob's Tear, on the other hand, is a rare drop from mobs in the Emerald Trail. You think you'd be done, but wait! You have to go to a Blacksmith in Ternaves. South Ternaves to be exact. So you head to South Ternaves, and then, oh boy, you thought getting Bob's Tear was unbearable? Try getting all of the Depressing Weapons. Those are even rarer from Emerald Trail mobs, and you have to back to Nesaak to kill the mobs there. Once you got all of them, go back to the Blacksmith, then back to Wedyf, and then, OH BOY YOU THOUGHT THE WORST WAS OVER YET? NOPE! You have to get 2 other people (gl doing that without Discord) to help you open up Bob's Tomb, and they have to be a specific class. Bob's Lost Soul needs a massive rework in 1.21.

In fact, I despise most fetch quests, Recipe for Disaster, Hunger of Gerts P1, and D&D P3 are the only exceptions in my eyes.

Recipe for Disaster lets you explore the Sky Islands, and the ways of getting the items are pretty unique, and not to mention Talking Mushroom.
Hunger of Gerts has some fetching in there, but the grind isn't that unbearable compared to other stuff like ToL.
And Dwarves and Doguns P3 has some unique elements of getting the items.

Also gotta disagree with WynnExcavation Site D being a dishonorable mention, because it is a classic that is good. It reveals a lot of the lore, and there are some secrets to find in the Lost City, not to mention while there is some fetching in there, it's pretty tolerable.
Same for Recover the Past too. The only bad part about RtP is defending the bridge, which is stupid hard at level, but otherwise, it reveals details about what Fruma is like, and the tasks in getting the 3 humans to Dr. Picard are also pretty memorable too.
Canary Calls in my opinion isn't that bad as people say. It's not super memorable and not the epitome of CotL quests, but it isn't that unbearable. I actually kind of like the Minecart Puzzle in there, and seeing what I presume to be a Fleris is what caused the gas, I kind of feel like it reveals some lore about Flerisi.

I seriously think that The Lost and The Canyon Guides should be merged to be a quest about the Colossus, in fact, I'm actually working on one right now. Both quests are the worst in the game to me.

Thanos Vaults to me is pretty eh, I think it could be reworked to include Korzim in there because we got Axelus in From the Mountains.

    Anyways that's my 2 cents.

there's usually at least 4 people checking out bobs tomb at any given time, and you only need 1 other person if you've mastered the horse trick so it's actually pretty easy

As for Recover the Past, that bridge part fucked over my hunted class and it still hasn't been nerfed. Other than that it's a good quest.
