New Player Here. Archer Or Assassin?

I'm like, new new. Haven't watch a single videos about it except the beginners guide one. Have been searching to find a better class because I'm only like 2 days into my Shaman profile.
I'm a solo extremist. Even if put in a party, I don't know what to do. So tell me which class(arch/assa) should I pick? Also, I'm thinking long term here. I won't just leave after playing for a month. I'm going to quit after I reach 1 billion emeralds and not stopping before that. So if either build is only good after a certain point, I won't pick it.
I can in fact do combos and this is not my first MMORPG. I'm npt into grinding, but if grind is mandatory, I will.

Most important note: I AM GOING TO DO ALL OF THE SIDE-QUESTS BEFORE THE MAIN STORY. UNLESS NEEDED, I REALLY AM GOING TO REACH LV. 100 BEFORE FINISHING THE STORY.

 

I mean ... I cant reallt answer since I nerver really played assasin but I archer main and it is a LOT of fun killing mobs with the spells
(Also: there are not reallt any sidequests)
(Alsoalso: the story can only be completed when you are lvl 103)

 

that's equivalent to nearly 4000stx of le. for comparison, i've been playing for 3 years and currently have around 100stx net worth. for someone who's apparently not into grinding to say that, you're either very insane or very dedicated.

both are fine. if you're new, then you might need to keep in mind that archer (contrary to expectation) is the highest damage class in the game, has great accuracy via its aoe-centric kit, and doesn't mind close combat. that aside, it's the easier of the two to play, so you should play archer if you prefer its simplicity or opt for assassin instead if you want to use more involved combos.

 

hey man how could i know. people seem to like archer alot. is archer spell heavy or no? because i heard assassin without his invinsibility is just a dead meat.

 

Yea defo not a good first playthrough class. Personally would go archer, although I've only mained a mage so what do I know.

Please don't actually do this, this is very dumb for a few reasons:

- Wynns main storyline isn't like most other RPG's. Sidequests will reference the main storyline, and also sometimes you need to do the main storyline to get access to large portions of the map. Do all your quests please!

- Drawing the line between "main" and "side" content is a bit blurry. Obvious questlines like Dwarvs and Doguns will stick out, but other small ones won't appear main storyline until your knee deep in them...

Max level is soft-capped at 105 and hard-capped at 106 btw. The highest level quest is 103.

Mage is probably the most spell focused

 

if you played for 3 years and only have 100stx of le, then i can only play for 50 years lol. can it solo bosses easy? not like, "combo combo kill" kind of easy, but like "oh boss. let me just kill it for a sec" kind of easy. there is a challenge, but not you just dying in one hit?

 

if you're referring to raw le, then that's actually more than the maximum bank capacity, so you'd have to use a couple alts to store all the money.

playing archer in a spell-heavy way is popular but it's not the only way you can play

i don't play assassin but i figure it's fine without vanish, but that said vanish is very important to its kit.

Some things require you to try out the multiplayer aspects by the way. Also there isn’t really a whole bunch of “side quests” per say, unless you just want to grind and do like only 20 quests in between, which isn’t fun (to me).

 

Basically assassin a combo class and the most fun class.
Archer is the strongest class, personally I dislike being the strongest as it makes games feel to easy.
No class has a set play style. Yes, the meta is spell builds but you can play however you want.
I know you already picked a class but I just wanted to say my opinion.

 

It depends on what items you use. And most classes can solo bosses pretty easily with the right build.

 

Tbh, in my opinion mage is the most useful class to have at lvl 100 because of how useful it is for loot running and it’s ability for high sustain tank builds as well as high damage more glassy ones.

If you don’t want to sue mage, however, to summarise archer and assassin...

Archer: Extremely spell based, highest damage class, very low defences. It’s extremely good in boss fights, however it could be harder to solo with because of the low defences.

Assassin: Widely known as the most balanced class. Has potential for a wide range of builds and is a great mix between high damage and good sustainability. IMO it’s one of the most easy classes to solo with.

 

Technically the game is all side quests since there's no main storyline

Anyways, Archer generally has better DPS, but its survivability is very situational and based on the amount of distance you can put between you and your targets. It's extremely good in the current endgame dungeon (Eldritch Outlook) and raid (The Canyon Colossus), since both of them are stationary targets and have relatively large arenas. It's also generally easier to play. Assassin fills a combo-focused middle ground between defense and damage; it doesn't have quite as high DPS compared to archer, but it has more defensive tools and a higher base defense. It's generally more difficult to play, and focuses on chaining different spells to maximize DPS. It's sort of a high-skill Jack-of-all-Trades; good mobility, defense, and damage if you know how to use it, but slightly worse than the other classes in their respective strengths.

archer is squishy but has REALLY good early game weapons (crackshot will carry you for like 10 levels) and is ranged, assassin does not have good range so you have to get in enemies faces, but assassin is amazing for damage, however some late game bosses will be annoying up close, TL;DR assassin better damage and tankier but has insanely short range, archer squishier and does slightly less damage but has amazing range

 

In the grand scheme of gameplay, most of the quests in the game could be considered side quests as there’s only a handful of quests that directly contribute to the lore of the provinces (namely the quests with numerous parts). It’s important to experiment with different play styles and find what suits you best, wether it’s questing or grinding or dungeon running, or all of them combined! The early game changes and progresses so rapidly that most players just go with the flow and really begin focusing on their personal style of play towards the endgame (Level 80<).

I think the “1 billion emeralds” part is most likely just hyperbole

also people spend a lot of time doing professions; that part of the game used to be optional, but it’s not optional if you want to do all the quests and secret discoveries

 

There is no main story line? or do you mean like all lore quests?

 

Fun fact: There is nothing really like a "main storyline" except like 7 quests. Almost all of them cintribute to the world, it is not like "hey, I am not important in any way"
