Shader Pack Lag And Gear Skins

when i use my shader pack or sometimes at random when my shaders is active it starts lag spiking every 4 seconds anyone know how to fix this except for restarting my game?

and secondly does anyone know how to put my gear skin on my weapon?

Use the compass to open the menu. Click the crafting table, or alternatively do /use.

Click on the gear skins section (the redstone dust iirc) then you can select the skin you want.

 

oh sorry im dumb it said steampunk sword so i thought i could use it but in the description it said spear
