Theory: Fruma Will Be Based On Japan

So far I've seen nobody talking about this (other than 1 thread from @Justice ) back in August that briefly mentioned it, but yesterday I noticed something about Fruma that is very interesting. I was reading through a history book and I noticed that it said ''During the Edo Period, which lasted 200 years, outsiders were not allowed in Japan.''

Sound familiar?

Yeah, that's something Fruma has too. Outsiders not allowed. God knows how Sohso made it there alive. But that's not all. If this fact isn't enough to convince you (which is understandable), then this next one might.

In Relos' library, the Fruman border is talked about and it says ''People who wish to attempt the opposite are more than welcome to try, however they are met with a hail of aggression from the Kai Shi, the Fruman royal guard.''

Now this may seem stereotypical in some ways, but isn't Kai Shi the most Japanese Samurai sounding name ever? It would also line up really well with how the Japanese Shoguns would hire samurai all over the country to defend them and stop uprisings, just like what the Fruman guards do. But what about the war inside the walls? Jokes aside, there is totally a war inside the Fruman walls. Why? If nobody is allowed into the country, you could expect there to be a civil war, an uprising against the leader. In that thread by @Justice that I mentioned earlier, the idea that it could be based on the French Revolution is mentioned. However, there was also a Japanese revolution at the end of the Edo period, caused by the people of Satsuma becoming dissatisfied with the Shogun after being forced into an unfair trade with America. They got supporters all over the country and eventually overthrew the shogun. That was a war, and a civil one at that.

But how did this war start? What sparked it?
I have 2 theories:
Wynn was sent recruits by Fruma because they forced them into an unfair trade which made the Fruman people dissatisfied with the Queen
Sohso entered the country not long ago with a small group of other people and faced no problems against the Kai Shi. This then made the people upset at the Queen.


So yeah, to me it looks like Fruma will be heavily based on Japan or its history. I really hope it's just Japan in general because if there's a full area that's pretty much Crystal Falls but bigger, Fruma will become my favourite province.

I can't really think of anything else that is known about Fruma which relates to Japanese history, and I'm sorry if I screwed up on the facts since that's pretty much the only thing I know about the history of Japan. If you know something about Fruma that links it to japan even more, let me know so I can add that to the list of similarities.

 

I think Japan traded a lot with other countries during that time, does Fruma trade at all or are they completly blocked off?

 

They clearly trade recruits with Wynn but that's all I know. It's possible that they buy some electromagical tools from Corkus like lots of other civilizations in Wynn (hell, even the doguns bought a drill)

 

not really? kai shi is a reference to the dai li, which was named after a chinese general, and it definitely sounds more chinese than japanese. plus since wynn is not very subtle when it comes to references the name would be closer to one of the famous clans like the genji/minamoto or taira if it was a reference to japan

civil wars happen all the time, this is very anecdotal evidence. not only that but neither of these were caused by an extremely oppressive system like fruma, it was mostly growing dissatisfaction over the years because of inequalities, a shitty government, etc

the signs point more to it being inspired by the qin dynasty imo: a ruthless emperor with a very strong military, all entries are closed (as a way to keep the population in check by keeping them unaware of whats happening outside/uneducated, pretty similar to the suppression of confucianism), and most importantly theyve literally built the great wall of fruma

 

Guess it'd make sense with the entire lore of Wynncraft since it's based around provinces and not countries, maybe Fruma wants to conquer all the provinces just like the Qin Dynasty

 

I agree with the guy above, kai shi is an extremely Chinese and not at all Japanese name

Upon futher consideration, I see it as way more likely that it will be based on the Qin Dynasty. Therefore I will add another poll option for that.

 

Fruman gates are already medieval-esque. If anything I'm guessing Fruma will be gothic, considering the queen and stuff. Who knows though, maybe they'll change the gates to be more Chinese or Japanese inspired.

 

I want to believe this just because Japanese architecture is so cool

Will there be Fruman version of Anime? Possibly Frunime?

If this theory is correct, that'd be amazing, and a great way to separate the Fruman architecture from the rest of Wynncraft, a problem that Wynn kinda has with all of the Eldritch Outlook-esque builds.

 

the only thing thats similar to EO rn is rodoroc's entrance tho

 

probably will be based on china cuz wynn likes to get inspiration from the last airbender (there is no war in the fruman walls = there is no war in ba sing se; kai shi = dai li), in this way fruma is like the earth kingdom, and the earth kingdom is based on china

 

Ok so now someone needs to make a Fruman anime opening
