Anyone Know What The Mechanical Piece Is Used For?

Context: At the end of AIHPt1, the Defective Guard Golem drops 2 items, the Power Source and Mechanical Piece. The Power Source is used to finish the quest, but I do not know what the Mechanical Piece is used for. It is not used in An Iron Heart Part 2, and is not used in the shady dealings discovery either. Is it just a useless commodity?

 

You just give them to Duvale. Nothing more, nothing less.

 

Stayed in my inventory for some reason. Guess it is useless.

I thought you needed it to "prompt" the dude's memory in part 2

 

I was left with it too, and I threw it away with no problem. The "mechanical reactor" or something like that is used in the second part, so make sure you don't throw that away.
