Who did you guys like better in terms of quest partner? Ava from The Feathers Fly, or Lari from The Realm of Light?

please do not insult the absolute perfection of ava by comparing her to whatever the fuck lari is. ava is perfect in all ways known to mankind and then some more that we haven't discovered yet. she is intelligent and brave and smart and funny and beautiful and wonderful and amazing and flawless and inspiring and calm and kind and courageous and cute and witty and unique and electrifying and kind and creative and wise and breathtaking and did i mention perfect?

Ooh, tough decision! Lari's a more complex and multi-faceted character than Ava, but IMO Ava's more likeable. Lari only really starts warming up to the player near the latter half of her arc, which is during the last RoL quest out so far. Also I'm a huge sucker for the cinnamon bun character archetype, so I have to pick Ava for this.

I thought this post was about Lari vs Ava duking it out, so I'll answer this question. This fight depends on a lot of things, such as whether or not Ava gets her secret power armor suit or if Lari fights Ava before she learns her lesson about needing to kill people. For the sake of a good fight, we'll say that in this fight, Ava has power armor and Lari is bloodlusted. Assuming the power armor is the same as Dr. Legendary's, Ava actually has the upperhand here. While Lari has 225,000 health, Dr. Legendary Ava has a combined total of 750,000 health. Legendary also has a higher level. Having more than 3x the health of Lari makes Ava the clear winner if she has access to the power armor.

Dr. Legendary’s health has been buffed in 1.20 to a total of 1.4 million health (400k in p1 and p2, and 600k in p3), so assuming that goes for anyone with power armor, Ava wearing power armor would also have 1.4 million health

I don't think stats really matter in a canonical discussion though. Qira, Mistress of the Hive seems to be a master of taoism or something and it's stated that she could easily kill Dr. Legendary power armor or not. Lari is only slightly less powerful than Qira because she only uses light magic and she'd probably still be able to defeat Ava with the power armor, although at a larger difficulty. Not only that, but Lari would be able to fly in this situation while the power armor would weigh Ava down too much (it's literally stated in the quest that the suit is heavy and hot) so Lari would have an aerial advantage. Sure, the power armor has range, but Lari is also shown to be good at defending herself. In a story situation Lari would win.

 

Ava doesn't let small things like absolute morality get in her way and learns from her mistakes in literally days. Where as Lari spends centuries literally messing up the same way again and again, getting her best friend killed, unwilling to listen or heed the messages of said friend who can partly see the future. And also she throws multiple tantrums because we, the players, are willing to adapt and do what is needed to save the light.

Also her "redemption" was kinda dumb. Punch Punch fly into magic void bubble and lost to time and space.

 

Ava is better, but Lari gets a bit too much hate.

 

Idk where it's stated that Qira is a master of Taoism and Lari is only slightly less powerful because of it. She's clearly not good at defending herself because in the cinematics she gets bodied by a creature of darkness. Yes I know she's not trying to hurt it but being good at defending herself does not mean hurting the creature. If she was any good at that maybe her plan of pacifying it might've done something. Also, Qira is stated to be holding back in her boss battle.

 

• It's implied that Qira is a master of Taoism because at the end of The Hive it is revealed that she is building an army to stop Dernic forces. This comes off as surprising due to the Dernic appearance of her dwelling.
• Lari failed at defending because not even the lightest light can stop the darkest dark- she was weaker than the darkness. The parasite was at the same power level as her but due to it being dark it won. Electromagic is not darkness.
