Is 1.16 Better Than 1.12 Now?

A few days ago I saw 2 guys arguing about 1.12 vs 1.16 and one of them was QA I think, defending 1.16. I can't find the thread anymore but they (the QA) insisted that 1.16 is better than 1.12 with the most recent update to Wynn, and that you'd be missing out on new sounds and stuff if you still play 1.12. I don't use Wynntils. Should I be using 1.16? Anyone found any new features in 1.16 over 1.12?

 

You should probably use 1.16 if only for better performance (Well for me at least).
You can also get some pretty good performance mods for 1.16 that you can't for 1.12

 

1.12 has Wynntils. No contest really.

 

1.16 just plays better and smoother to me, but I guess you'd be missing out on Wynntils and stuff. It probably boils down to preference, so try out both! 1.16 has amazing performance mods as said before too, way better than 1.12 to me

 

If Wynntils supported 1.16 and if 1.16 wasn't buggier than 1.12, I'd choose 1.16

 

Well what bugs are in 1.16 that aren't in 1.12

 

99% of the 1.16 bugs have been fixed but to name a few that still exist
- horse rubberbanding
- I find I get stuck in the ground more often in 1.16
- this extremely common bug

if you ride your horse around, you'll notice your horse's movement is very jittery

1.12 is recommended because it has the most stability with the server (as server version = client version)
While 1.16 is better client-sided, as the client version is not the server version, it'll still have stabilty issues im pretty sure

 

the server still runs on 1.8, actually
but yeah, 1.12 is still where you'd find more stability on things like horse movement and player heads (and probably other really minor stuff)

 

But theres 1.9+ features like territories as advancements, parrot sounds, and totem of undyings on some mobs though?

 

he's saying the server's core (for lack of a better word lol) is run on 1.8, but they were able to code in 1.12 features such as glazed terracotta, parrots, etc

The issues on 1.16+ are so minor that I see no reason not to use it besides if you're using mods. Personally I'll pretty much always recommend 1.16 from now on, because it'll give you a more complete experience with all of the new sounds and stuff

IMO 1.16 is better for performance, but I’d be unable to give up wynntils for this.

 

Well I use 1.16.4 Fabric with Sodium/Lithium/Phosphor (three performance mods), so practically vanilla with better performance.

 

using 1.16 myself cuz 1.12 seems to miss some textures
