Recover The Past Not Working

When I try to do the recover the past quest, it mostly works. I can defend the bridge and stuff, but it doesn't let me get the potion. I have the materials: 1 bottled fresh water, 1 golden apple, 1 bloom of doom, but when I go to the brewing stand, it doesn't work. I tried left and right-clicking, and going from all different angles, but it still doesn't work. Can someone tell me if I am doing something wrong, and how to do this quest. If needed I can provide visuals via discord.

 

try /class, switching worlds, and playing 1.12.2 if you haven't already
