since this theory has almost 0 evidence it's more of a headcanon but i dont care i want to post it somewhere

    (Spoilers for Hero of Gavel)

I think that Siegfried, although being a paid actor, was once an actual hero from across the sea. The people of Gavel started trying to make money off of his name and they succeeded. However, Siegfried was like any other warrior, and he died in battle. The people making money off him thought ''Well shit, he's dead. Because of this, the craze will die out and we'll have to stop making money from his name.'' Then, they realised that they could just hire a lookalike to do the job for him and they could still make money. All they had to do was hide his actual death from the public. While they wanted to make money illegitimately, they were not monsters (yet). They had one of Gavel's greatest sculptors build a huge statue of him outside Cinfras and had him respectfully buried in a secret chamber within the statue. They soon decided to start doing a monthly Siegfried Contest where depending on how much money you spent you could meet ''Siegfried'' and go on an adventure with him (This ''Adventure'' was always held in an ancient temple from before the Sky Islands collapsed that they had repurposed into some kind of action roleplay thing. However, they were not willing to spend much money on it, so it was unsafe. Little did they know the tragic past of the people who had lived in that cave). These caves were unsafe and eventually the Siegfried lookalikes started to die in rock falls and to the monsters that had been captured for these events. The people who witnessed these were told that he was okay, so they didn't tell the public. Each time a siegfried died, they would be sent into the statue with the real one. They buried the first actor with less care than they did with the actual siegfried, and the next with even less care. After doing that, they realised that they were running out of space in the chamber so instead of respectfully burying the Siegfrieds they started throwing their bloodied corpses into the pit without care, hoping that the Decay wouldn't reawaken them. To this day, their trick is still maintained. But now that you know the truth, you have the power to wake up the public.

Yeah, that's pretty much just telling the story of The Hero of Gavel's 'secret'.
It seems accurate and not just headcanon (to me at least)

There's no evidence that there ever was a real siegfried though

It just depends on how much reach you think the Siegfried Corporation to have to be able to fake stuff I guess

The fact that there is three siegfried monument with armor in the siegfried secret is an evidence that Siegfried was really a warrior back then. After he died, Gavel government replaced him with another warrior. After this warrior died, with another one. But then after a third death, because it was certainly difficult to train/find a warrior every time and/or because it was not worth it, they started to do fake stuff with actors.

They could've felt bad about the death of an actor and had an armor forged for his grave

Yes but I don't know why I don't feel it like this.
I think that my explanation would be more interesting in term of story.

I thought there was - I haven't been there (Siegfried died somehow) but I saw it in Olinus10's vid and it seemed like it

Also at the end Gurix says we've "saved the legacy of Siegfried", which would be a bit weird if it was all fake the whole time. It's certainly still possible though.

He could be referring to the whole actor ploy as Siegfried’s ‘legacy’
though one has to wonder what happened to Gurix after you save him (well, IF you saved him)

It is a secret room, it wouldn't make sense to make a big display with armor. A regular grave, sure, but armor is reserved for kings, nobles, and warriors. Same thing with crypts.
