What's Known About How Pets Work?

May last year, I made a big thread about durability degration solving a few questions nobody cared enough to test before that. (Guide - A Comprehensive Guide To Durability Degration | Wynncraft Forums)

I am planning to create a similairly test-intensive thread about pets to answer the following questions:

How is pet XP calculated?
(Killing mobs, pets killing mobs, in that case, does the level of the mob matter?, travel distance, time the pet is out, all that stuff. Does XP% effect it?, does your level effect the speed at which a pet gets XP?)

Do AIs differ per pet?
(Don't think so, but I'll test it. Been surprised before.)

How much pet XP is necessary for each level?
(just a list, but good to know)

How is pet damage calculated?
(Sounds easy enough, but if it's anything like everything else this game does with damage, it has some really weird stuff to it.)

At what speed does a pet move?

etc.

Before I test stuff out, I like to know that I'm not testing something that's already been tested or confirmed by CT working on them. So if you know something about how pets work, please tell me here and link to your source.


Also, there's one big problem:

I'm not going to buy champion rank, and I am only VIP. This means that I can't test stuff out for 3+ pets or for pet levels > 20, nor can I test out 'tasks'.
Unless one of you lovely and generous people gifts me VIP+ (or Champion) I can't do this by myself, is there any voluenteer who will test this for me once I have the data on the other stuff?

 

As someone who bought Champion, the pets task being locked behind the rank is scummy AF, and it's pretty scummy they took pets that were like 30-40 bucks that people bought and then made them like 7. Personally I think they could have handled it differently.

But yeah once I level my pets, will help you out. So far it appears they take XP from your kills. So when you get XP, they get XP. Though I'm unsure of the conversion factor.
