Assassin Or Warrior?

Assassin is widely considered to be much, much better class due to its damage and spells

 

Warrior is usually considered to be the worst class, but they are the tankiest

both are good, but I do recommend assassin. warrior is widely regarded as the """worst""" class, but every class is good, and while warrior has some negatives, it also has many good parts to it. it has some very interesting spell combos for example.

anyways, i do recommend assassin, but you should just play whatever class you like best. the classes are mostly balanced, and there is no "best" class.

 

Ignoring my title I think either works. Every class is fully viable but some more then others. Assassin has the lowest skill floor but the highest skill ceiling. Assassin is probably the most fun and balanced class.

warrior on the other hand is immortal in the early game but can struggle later. Your spells just don’t work with each other. That being said warrior is my second favourite class. I genuinely enjoy the class even if you’re weaker.

in all fairness warrior struggles with many aspects of the game but its the first class I picked and it will always hold a special place in my heart because its so tanky

 

Wow, I actually believe the exact opposite
Warrior was absolute cancer to level up, only when I hit endgame did I feel like I had any semblance of survivability and damage

Anyways, to address op

Assassin is VERY VERY strong, and has a high skill cap.

Warrior is decent, has a high skill cap (charge strafing, uppercanceling), and can get you some gamer points. Although, it really struggles to compete with the other classes.

Actually, it should be "compare warrior to archer or assassin"

Archer and assassin vastly outclass warrior in both dps and sustain

Mage and Shaman, on the other hand, warrior is actually competitive with. Mage and Shaman easily outclass warrior in the sustain department, but warrior can actually get higher damage than both mage and shaman.

 

personally I found warrior great to level but now that I’m level 67 I see why people dislike it.

 

You're completely right, but I also think it's important to address the added utility archers have from their insane range (over assassin and warrior). I'm not sure archer should really be compared to any other class as it outclasses almost everything warrior can do. If I was drawing lines in the sand, I would say assassin and warrior are mostly in one group as short range classes where assassin is clearly better, mage and maybe shaman is midrange and archer would be its own thing and comparing outside of those classes is a little iffy. Idk why the original question wanted to compare with warrior with shaman though since I think they're the two most different classes in the game, at least in 1.19.

Anyways, I guess my point is that I think archer probably needs a nerf which hurts to say since it's my favorite class, or warrior, mage and shaman (post 1.20 nerfs) need hard buffs to make them competitive, so if you want a close range class, assassin is really the only viable choice right now, at least to me.

 

The thing about leveling classes is you unlock your spells slowly.
With 1 spell that does 170% damage and the highest base defense, warrior is very very strong early on.
Later on, when life sustain becomes more important, warrior starts to lag behind.

 

Of course it comes down to personal preference, but if you are picking a class based on how strong they are in the meta, go for assassin.

Assassin practically has everything warrior has but better. Its got arguably the best spell in the game, being vanish. (great horisontal and vertical mobility, insane damage boost and has applications in both combat and movement) In addition assassin’s other toolkit synergizes great with the class, unlike warrior’s which has rather poor synergy.

In addition, assassin arguably has more survivability than warrior even though it has heaps more dps as well. Assassin’s base defense is 1.0 (compared to warrior’s 1.2) and assassin has vanish which it can utilize as well, which objectively already makes it have better survivability.

Due to these reasons, in the current meta assassin is just plain better than warrior (practically any class is better than warrior). Keep in mind that maybe its a good idea to try both classes. Even if assassin is objectively a “stronger” class than warrior doens’t mean one can’t enjoy warrior and its somewhat wonky playstyle.

As well, in the end all wynncraft classes are decently well balanced. Warrior isn’t **that** much worse than assassin. Its not unusable by any means.

 

I agree with pretty much evetythinh, but a few minor things

Warrior’s vase def + war scream is equivalent to 1.56x the health of Assassin in EHP
Though I believe Assassin is overall better at damage avoidance due to blind and vanish

I just wanna say for OP that despite having poor synergy, warriors can uppercancel to better utilize damage

Though I agree in the class’s current state Assassin is better in just about every way

 

It should be noted that Warrior is getting multiple indirect and direct buffs in 1.20, through a new major ID called Rally, a buff to uppercut’s mana cost, and the introduction of Crowd control immunity, which effectively negates uppercut’s biggest issue as a spell for certain bosses. Assassin is getting some minor direct and indirect nerfs, as well, although they’re not nearly as major and might be offset by CCI indirectly improving multihit. It’s hard to say exactly where Warrior will end up in the meta after the dust settles, but overall it’s definitely going to be at least somewhat closer in power level to the other four classes in 1.20.

...Although honestly, if Orphion’s raid is anything like the Colossus, both classes are going to be in a pretty bad spot for raids in general. Archer is just safer for DPS and Mage has more survivability.

In any case, I’d argue that the end choice shouldn’t be based on which one is stronger, since that’s liable to change, and should be based on which one has a playstyle you find more fun, since that’s a lot more stable. I prefer assassin’s mobility/combo toolkit more than warrior’s direct tanking, but you might prefer the opposite. It’s ultimately up to you.

 

Assassin im having a lot of fun with but I heard archer is fun too. You get speed 3 on your movement ability. Assassin spells are really good so I use them more than my actual weapon but I still use my weapon for mana steal.
